Guys I have an 2002 Lancer ES, so to connect it do I only need the black OBDII cable or do I also need the white cable?

hi all im a new to all this
so im trying to read a ecu in a jdm evo7
iv run the unlocker 1st then opened ecuflash
it downloads then this comes up



then if i Select the last option
this is the list that drops down etc
can you tell me were to find the xml /rom id for my ecu is it on the ecu box ?
sorry for all this im not the best with computers and need to be spoon fed
every thing



were /what do i go next ? i can get any info off the car etc
just let me know what you need

You dont have the correct .xml definition file for your exact ROM. Find out what ROM you have exactly, then find the definition file for it.

now the hard bit how do i find out what rom i have ?
this is my frist go at this and i dont know much yet
the ecu looks like a ralliart ecu

Back from retirement!! Thank you very much for this info!! It was actually easier to start tuning then it was figuring out which cable, evoscan software, software on pc, etc.

hi ive connected the odb2.. downloaded the rom.. saved it as .hex tried opening it in ecu flash. software didnt recognize the rom .. i selected the car from the drop down menu 2005 jdm evo .. page opened up but with no data only shows

Make
model
sub..
market..
.. no ecu id
.. no case id
internal id is 93660005
..
..
..

i downloaded a demo rom from this forum and that shows all the menus ' fuel ' timing ' boost ' etc

any one have an idea what ive done wrong? thanks

Hi all, I had read from the ECU by using the open port 1.3 cable.
this was done with the evoscan software.
a file was created named +++++.hex
Now that file how can i open it to edit it?
