Help with starting EcuFlash software!

I have a IX and am trying to copy an image of my ROM. I have EcuFlash running on Windows 98. With the program open, I click the 'Download ROM' button, choose '2005 Evolution 9', click 'Read', and I get the message: "Vehicle does not support the needed features."

I am lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't be afriad to go step by step. I will not be insulted by simplicity.

The program and drivers are for XP, maybe Win2k if you are lucky. The program probably can communicate with the OpenPort driver.

Thanks Colby. I kinda had a feeling that the problem had to do with me not running XP. This laptop is a beater from work and is somewhat dated. I'll try again with one that is running XP.

you have to plug it in before you start the program, also make sure that under "options" you select the openport 1.3 or whatever it is, not COM1 or COM4 etc. That will fix it.

lol, can we get something like this stickied?

now someone help me w/ my problem! lol, the WI guys aren't helping. my query
