I have the same setup as above, although not yet installed on the car. That is the main reason keeping me from the install. I drive my car daily so I'm usually between 2k-5k RPM, exactly where that turbo doesn't shine. The main upside though is if I install that big turbo and cams I know my ET's will drop because all the power will be above 5k which is exactly where you are during 90% of the 1/4mile.

Always, you should throw it on man. I mapped out my car with the stocker injectors and 264/272 and it was good up to about 18 psi. Car had plenty for around town and was fast....just ask my friend with the 119 mph trapping SC300 turbo. He had to work HARD to get away from me

I put my 780s in over the weekend and have the boost up around 22 lbs, whole new car once again. Its worth it and I'm getting better fuel economy as well since I can't hit 22 psi in everyday traffic like before.

I think its your cam setup that is giving the better overall power. WIth the 280s you lose low end but make up for it in the high end.

This is all just a thought, but i do most of my hard driving between 5-8k, and i will be doing springs retainers. I just want the top end. Hi way driving is where im always at. So This is why i chose this setup

Thats impressive you went that far on the stock injectors. I have a set of 1000cc injectors sitting on the shelf so running out of fuel isn't a worry. Believe me the thought has crossed my mind way more then a few times, the problem is I just can't get past the fact that I have sooo much more power left with the stock turbo. I really want to be in the 11s, consistantly, before I switch. I would feel like I was cheating if I ditched it in favor of a larger more powerful turbo now.

With the EVO I'm between 3-4k on the highway, right in the sweet spot for the stocker. All I do is touch the gas and I'm in boost. My other car which isn't my DD has a big ol' t66 turbo on it. It used to be laggy until I changed the hotside from a .96 to a .58 AR so I know what its like to have to wait for boost or downshift on the highway... thats not what I want with my daily driver at the moment.

Anyone else with 35R and 280s on stock block and ecuflash? How is your lag and when are you seeing full boost?

I'm getting about 20psi at about 3800rpm..

I see about 15-17psi at about 3400rpm..

I'm trying to do this from memory because I don't have any of my logs here, but the turbo in daily driving with the 280 cams hasn't been too laggy in my daily driving I really don't notice it.. Once your at around 3000rpm the boost hits pretty fast..

I'm using an HKS DLI-II, BPR9ES plugs gapped at .026 Its breaking up bad, if I gapped down to .022 it goes away..

The problem is the coils at that point.. But there are weird issues using a COP setup depending on what you use for a CDI.. I decided to rebuild my setup using an HKS-DLI-II plug and play harness, to a 300m COP setup, and using a Nology 2 channel Igniter between the DLI and COP ..

The reason the it works with the DLI-II is because your boosting the voltage to the coils, but triggering the transistor as it would be stock stock..

FWIW the Nology Igniter is basically a relabeled DSM/chrysler igniter but the wiring harness is easier to get for it (since you can buy it on their site.)

IIRC your using HSK 280 cams... do you have gears also? If so what settings are you using if you don't mind sharing?

I think TedB has the same ones and he recommend -2,0, which I assume is I & E respectively.

straight up. Stock gears.. Not at the point where it was worth the investment in gears to try different cam settings.. thats next..

in that case that is pretty impressive spool for that turbo espically with cams.

Interesting thread as i thought AEM was really the only way to go with a tubo upgrade, though i has seen 1 person do the EcuFlash thing with reenforced MAF before this thread. It's good to know so many others are taking this path, and i'm eager to see where it takes us, and how much power will be made.

I had AEM EMS factored into my budget for my setup, but this thread may save me quite a significant amount of money.
