Controlling Radiator Fan with ECUFlash
Controlling Radiator Fan with ECUFlash
Guys,
I have a IX that I have been using ecuflash on with great success. I recently installed a Koyo Radiator and 75C Rallyart Radiator and want lower the Fans to kick in maybe at 190F (I'll convert that numberb to Celcius as I am sure thats what the ECU uses)
I found an area in misc for a hi and low temp ic relay and it was in C. I believe stock for high was 108 and low is 100. I lowered them to 97 and 92 respectfully and so far so good. I guess I can run evoscan and watch the coolant temp and see if fan comes on and the change works but I figure someone here can just tell me if thats the right thing. I used the search feature before posting and was unsuccessful at finding it.

IC relay (as far as I know) was one of the Intercooler Sprayer settings for the temp range when to turn the IC Sprayer on and off..
There are configurable settings we haven't found yet, and I'm sure they exist, only I haven't seen anything specific to the radiator fan on and off temps..

There is power to me made I'm sure if the evo responds like any other forced induction car i have tuned. I am new to the evo and I have used a half dozen applications on other cars primarily domestics and I have to say ecuflash coupled with evoscan aint bad for what it is, open source, free +25 for logging and it works very well! Cant wait for more of the evo ecu to be decoded. It would be nice if I could log loads though
I take it you are one of the developers working on ecuflash? Good luck with your project! BTW Nice website, I signed up a few weeks ago.

Not directly involved with ECUFlash development, I have some support tools I've written, and I'm hosting the Disassembly effort so we can have a configurable ECU.
I'm certain we'll have these remaining maps completely defined by early next year if not earlier. I'm also certain that we'll have some really amazing patches available to allow this sort of control.
So far there is some enhanced logging patches coming together, no more clipped data but actual ECU Load. Things like pushing real-time tuning changes and other things aren't much further away. And things which I find important which is being able to selectively change thresholds or change, disable, or override OBD-II codes
With all of this, we'll ultimately find the settings for the fan controller.
In reality, the Evo is a bit unique, If you were to run the coolant temp lower, the car enriches the fueling thinking its not up to temp. So gains are harder to make by doing that. HOWEVER This is stuff we're working on defining.

BTW you can check out MitsuLogger, its in its beta stages, and works well most of the time. Its basically the only logger available right now that supports the currently available patches for the Roms feature enhancements.

Just wanted to say thanks for the MitsuLogger. I have not played with it yet because it's still in the beta stages. When will it be out of the beta stages? What are the major advantages over Evoscan? I got Evoscan and don't like it very much.
