final say.

I have searched, but i didnt really find anything that answered my question.

How much knock is acceptable and at what rpm and load is the worst area to get knock in,

Also do small amounts of knock 2-3 counts every now and then lower engine life in the long run?

Generaly what tends to break first in the 4g63 motors in the evo with detonation?

Final says from experienced people please,

PS:Go in to as much detail as possible

2-3 counts of knock are fine.

evoscan knock counts of 2 to 3 are definatly ok, if you hold a count of 2 or three throughout your pull then your getting to much knock, at those counts you are not harming your motor, at even higher counts you are not harming your motor it is just an indication that you are getting dangerous and close to real detonation, no those counts will not lower engine life in the long run but making more power in these motors in the first place is lowering engine life, as far as breaking first most people will melt pistons (bad lean and very hot tunes) and blow headgaskets, upgrade to headstuds and tune safe and smart and you can keep these motors pretty bulletproof
hope that helps man tell me i missed anything you wanted me to hit on

If you are getting an occasional 2 or 3 counts of knock, you are perfectly safe. If, on the other hand, as previously mentioned you are seeing 2 or 3 counts of knock consistently throughout your entire pull, that is too much for my liking.

High RPM knock is more dangerous. you shouldn't read any knock counts on High RPM area ( above 5000). I think mid range is too sensitive and I haven't seen any evo with 0 knock counts in that range. even stock evos get 1~3 counts in that range frequently. but it is all depends on cars. I get more false knock counts than most of evos here. so I allow up to 5 counts in the mid range. but I still don't allow any on high range.
