What you see is a native qt/carbon build for OSX, but an X11 build shouldn't be difficult. I tried to build this snapshot on linux/ppc32 yesterday, but I think my version of qt was too old. I'll try again when I get a chance.

Ok. So I made it build on Linux, but it doesn't actually run yet. I should probably try it with a qt4 built with gcc 4. Maybe I'll have time when I get home...

Not really. We still lack driver support on OS X for the tactrix cable. You can edit maps, but you can't read and write them from the ECU.

FWIW, I've done quite a bit of USB driver development for OS X. Between my day gig and a committment to Enginuity, I'm pretty much swamped the rest of the month, but if this is still a hurdle I could look at it next month. I've actually traced the OpenPort cable with a USB analyzer and the underlying USB pipes and descriptor blocks used by the FTDI chip seems pretty straight forward.

Correct. Are you familiar with the differences between the D2XX driver and the virtual serial port driver? There's already a VCP driver for Mac that works, but flashing requires more than tty support. There's also this:

suscribed. I would love to be able to reflash my ecu with my macbook pro, rather then borrow my friends dell. while running windows natively on the intel duo core macs are there any problems with the ecu flash and the tactics cable?

 

I'm sure the OSX and Linux guys are chomping at the bit to get the full FTDI protocol support.

FWIW, the earlier versions of ECUFlash supported com ports, which means the routines for doing it using standard serial IO may already still exist in the code.

 

No. Running bootcamp, the tactrix cable works fine and you can reflash with ease. I've done it many times myself. Of course the problem is, you have to run windows.
