tuning for unleaded vs. leaded race fuel?

I'm going to work on developing a race gas tune for my car and was wondering whether there is much, if anything, to be gained with 110 leaded vs. 100-104 unleaded, in terms of knock resistance when using a derivative of the stock turbo. Is it worth the wear and tear to the O2 sensors to use leaded race fuel? I was hoping that someone here has tuned on both and can speak to the difference.

Thanks!

If you are not looking for every last ounce of power for dyno bragging or drag racing I would just use a good 100-104 unleaded gas and tune for that on a stock turbo

The leaded works well when you are asking for big **** boost from the stock turbo, again to eek every last ounce of power from it.

One thing about the leaded (110, not C16) is it would be much much less expensive. Not only does it cost less per gallon, but you could use less mixed with 93 to get to the same octane level.

that was the trick a long time ago, mix leaded with unleaded regular for a big jump in octane.

If your tuning on leaded just make sure there's an extra O2 sensor in the trunk. Lead supposed to accelerate the sensors death

No doubt, when I was racing my Stealth twice a week on leaded gas, the WB02 sensor would last about a month or two and start flaking out. Also the plugs would start sputtering.

I've since regulated my cars to pump gas and haven't had a single problem.

^ I've run at least 100 gallons of 110 octane turbo blue through my car and the O2s have never had a problem. I have heard that its not good to run leaded fuel on a brand new sensor and its not good to do it back to back to back.

I run leaded for lapping days and "special" weekends only not daily.

Ive noticed the leaded loads the plugs when you leave the track and go back to pump driving anything less that WOT, just my experience, I just cant find 100 octane in this part of NM, so been running Torco 114, .
