Feature/Patch request: Temp disable A/C under WOT

This is a feature of AEM EMS I believe, and the old-school DSM chips would do it as well. Basically wondering if anyone has or would consider writing code to temporarily disable the air conditioning while the car is under 80% or more WOT. On the old chips it would stay off for a short period of time after WOT has dropped down to cruising levels, in case you were going to go WOT again anytime soon....this period of time as well as the WOT % cut-off could be variable, as it may change per person, but I think there could be some settings that would work for most people.

Anyone think this is possible, or even interested in doing it? Anyone actually doing this already?

But your compressor can be damaged at high RPM's.

doesn't the AC already turn off when you go full throttle?

If its not already implemented in the stock code, it wouldn't be too hard to implement (but I don't have time right now to do it).

Most any modern car shuts down the a/c compressor during WOT.

Are you sure about that? I someone locally was attending a dyno day and was being a smart-*** to the guy driving his car on the dyno....he decided to have a little fun and flipped on the A/C just as he started a run and the car dropped like 30whp across the board. It was all in fun, but still shows that power is lost w/ the A/C on.

I've noticed power loss with the AC on as well in a couple of absent minded logs. However, I was under the impression that the compressor kicked off at WOT as well.

Where does anyone get this impression from... any proof? Literature? Now it's gotten my curiosity up. I usually flip it down by habit... yes on my old DSM's there were always chips that would do it automatically because they did not in the past shut down a/c.

I dont think the Evo turns off the compressor automatically. I meanI could be wrong but the AC system seriously affects the performance of this vehicle. This would be a great patch.

Um yes this is on an evo, this is not the ford taurus forum The evo mentioned above is a 2006 IX, and I think pretty much anyone can confirm this by simply getting in their car, doing a pull, then flip on the AC and do another. There is simply less power!

I am geting Dyno tuned tommorrow I will ask the tuner to do a test and see if the A/C turns off at WOT.

Zeitronix sell a little box that is made for the 1g DSM that shuts off the A/C above a certain throttle position.
here is the link: http://zeitronix.com/tcac/tcac.htm
