Should i pull some more timing
Should i pull some more timing
Hi here guys pulled a couple of logs and just wanted you Opinions.
All ECUFLASH Gurus pls give me your input
my Question is do you guys think i should pull some more timing out this map!
this is done at 22.5 PSi now why i am asking, if boost goes up to 23.6 psi it shows 5-6 counts of knock in the 4-4.5k rpm on the 240 load column.
this is on 95 octane fuel Leaded.
AFR's are in the high 10.8 on spool up and 11 towards redline.
Can Unleaded be tuned for higher AFR's
I want to lean out the high octane map a bit
did not log AFR with the zeitronix as when i put Zeitronix com to USB adapter and tactrix cable the whole PC goes haywire.
will log AFR with my other lappy that has com port
thanks for looking
anybody care to slap these Logs in DLL as mine has expired.

Things I see wrong:
1) No 2 Byte Load? You should start logging that before you do any tuning.
2) You're logging too many things. If you're focusing on timing, I would just log RPM, TPS, Timing, Knock, OctaneFlag, 2 Byte Load, and AFR from your wideband
3) 10.8 during spool up is rich... I shoot for 12.5 during spool up, then at 3000 I begin taper so I'm at 11.5 by 3500. I hold 11.5 until 6500RPM, when I begin to taper to 11.0 at redline, and 10's after redline. Do you know if LeanSpool is enabled or disabled?
4) Your timing is definiately higher than mine, but I am running 24psi and I'm on 93 unleaded, so you might be able to run more. I run 3° at peak torque, and 13° at redline. I have no experience tuning leaded 95, but every car is different. Lower your timing, get your AFR's to be at LEAST 11.5, possibly 12.0, and up the boost a tick or two, then work on timing.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Shameless. Even without 2-byte, its easy to say that you can fix the problem probably by pulling 1 deg of timing in the higher load cells and rpm range where the knock occurs. Without 2-byte, the trick will be figuring out which cells.

ye without a doubt i must get 2 byte sorted thanks

Dude i am from across the pond
Any wait for it.... this is our gay RACE fuel wich is 102 RON should be equivalent to your 95 MON, that you guys can buy at the pumps, sad ehh.
our fuel sucks donkey ***** !!

I will log AFR's let me get the 2 byte working
typical i was starting to spool with about 10.7 and run about 11 redline.
I pulled some fuel and didnt feel like car made more power just felt smoother.
Dont know if it is in my head but, running through the RPM's it felt more eager.

what i meant was, lean out your afr's but pull some timing with it if you are knocking. I'd drop probably 3* where you are knocking, maybe even 4. Do a log and see if you are knocking still. Then start leaning out your afr's to mid 11's. you should feel a lot more power from that thing
US market evos come with a spool up afr that runs about a point leaner than regular afr range on boost. I believe mine ran near 13, it is an effort by mitsu to speed spool up.
Although I personally don't run it that lean anymore I sure wouldn't run it as rich as you are. I like the idea of a mid 12 for spool up.
with the fuel you are using either a bit more timing or an afr more worthy of the fuel would be in order. something in the late elevens.
back when leaded was available in the US it was a neat trick to mix leaded with regular unleaded for a super high octane result. super being relative of course.
don't know how it would work with race fuel as the extra lead in cheap regular was what was needed.
Think I'd run some unleaded in there from time to time to clean it out.
yeah I figured edm meant Europe but didn't think you euro guys could get leaded.
now that I think about it though, there are all those neat vintage racers running around so they must have some pull.
since you said pond, I'd have to say England.

just confirmed 2 byte don't work on my rom!
Oh well just have to wait to see when they sort it out for my ROM.
another question with more boost
would your timing differ for different PSI.
Lets assume you can run 3* at 22 psi could you run the same timing at torque peak at 26 psi.
How much timing can you pull more....i mean 3 is already very low.
