Nolift to Shift??
I heard some one say that no-lift to shift can be faster than an auto... Id like to see that... I have a 10 sec auto dsm and evo8 with a built tre trans and there is no way i can shift as fast as the auto.. Plus the auto shifts twice in the 1/4 unlike the evo...
Exactly what do you run in the quarter...
Where are you shifting. And what are you making for power...
Point: I can NLTS the **** out of my prism. You can't even hear the gear change. And it has a truck-esk throw. But the DSM doesn't always enjoy going into gear at 8k+ no matter how quickly I try to jam it in. That and add in wheel spin from high powered cars and those gears come at you faster than you can react. Period.

Since that I have installed an sc61 w/alky a 6 puck act Xtreme duty, lightented flywheel, buschur deluxe, UICP, intake, TTP flash, Front motor mount (purple, i forgot the brand) and a bunch of little things here and there. I have yet to get dyno numbers or track it as 272's, cam gears and injectors are going in along with the arp head studs.
My car sounds like an automatic.. Thats the 1st thing everyone says when I shift
So Its not like im shifting at 6500 and when i let the clutch out im at 8400..

I think everyone is losing track of the idea here. This is a mod that will help those who are not as good shifters, it will also be a nice safety net for those who are. Honestly we are all human, stuff happens. I would feel much better if I missed a shift and it didn't bang 8100rpms. I really see no downside to this. And for those that don't want it, don;t use it
FWIW - I went 12.3 @109, so I think I can shift ok

I've never been in a modded DSM auto but I assume they are quicker than stock. If not I can shift faster than a stock dsm auto in my NLTS shep trans. You basically pull towards the next gear while still WOT, keep your foot on the gas, when its time to shift sharply stab the clutch while pulling harder towards the next gear. As soon as the clutch is near the bottom it goes in the next gear so once you get it down you learn to just touch the clutch and release it just as quick. Gear changes are about as fast as you can sink the clutch in and out. The main benifit however is not the speed but the fact that you don't lift off the gas meaning you stay spooled in a manual.
I would definately use this to see if there is a difference in my track times. The last time I was at the track I did 12.5 @ 110 while lifting. The car had a TBE, O2 housing, 23 psi, injen kit, and a jestr email flash. Now there is a lot more.
tephra, - cutting spark rather then fuel would be really really cool. It would make this a true two step. Once you start working on this perhaps you could try that. Thanks again for your work, you rock!
wow tephra another bad azz project man, you my friend are great
big props to the thread starter for the idea, this indeed will be easier to WOT shift (I call it something different rather than NLTS LOL
