Nolift to Shift??
a lot of DSM guys and VR4 guys have this. My boss has it on his DSM. I think its called an DSMLink management system, it retards the timing or something like that and allows you to keep boost levels up without having to let off the gas.??
Not sure they made something like this for EVO's yet.

I agree with ray3328, if your motor skills are good enough you can shift as fast or faster than an auto.
But this no-lift-to-shift thing is available in the ECU+ if you're interested.

This can definitely be done with some new code and flash. Maybe someone that is writing new code, like tephra, can do this.
DSMLink's NLTS had a preset rev limit when the clutch was pushed in. It used the upper clutch switch so that the rev limit would be enforced the moment the clutch was depressed. It simply cut fuel if the RPM was over the specified limit. There also were antlilag setting for larger turbos where you could also decrease timing.
This is easier on the transmission because it will help lower the RPM for rev matching to the next gear. I used this on my Eclipse with DSMLink and it was the smoothest WOT shifting I have ever experienced.
The only problem I see this with flashing is that you will have to flash every time you want it on or off. If you have it on during normal driving around town, you may hit the NLTS limit, and when you're not at WOT shifting, it feels just like fuel cut and you may jerk around a bit. Maybe someone that codes this up can give us the ability to turn it on and off without a flash, similar to the way that tephra does live map switching today.
So, anyway, absolutely it is possible. We just need a coder/dissasmbler to work on it with the settings we would like.

Thanks l2r99gst this is exactly what I had in mind.
I realize that I could shift faster (which I usually do anyhow), but being that I drag a 6mt it is not exactly the strongest transmission in the game. I would rather have this feature if for no other reason than a safety net.
Hopefully tephra or another programmer will see this and might be able to provide opinion.

hrmm that would be pretty easy - I'm already fiddling with the revlimiter for my valet mode..
so basically when clutch goes in, drop the limiter to 5000 or something and when its released set it back to default...
for a dumb question - why would you want to do this?

1- normal high end limit (clutch out, car rolling)
2- launch limit (clutch in, car stationary)
3- no lift (clutch in, car rolling)
I have no idea about programming. I assume the two step works off the speed sensor as well to engage it (I think dsmlink does this). This nolift feature would also have to work off the speed sensor in conjuction with clutch switch.
Thanks for looking into this tephra. I think it would be a great addition to the factory ecu. Something else.... Would it be possible to add maps to pull timing and add fuel when these limits are engaged? Might make larger turbos spool better between shifts and at launch. Similar to a Utec or AEM?
