Wierd issue

I got a mail in flash and the car started and then shut right off. It kept doing this so I put it back to stock and it ran. Got a new flash and now the car won't start no matter what I do. Basically the injectors are not firing. The fuel pump is working there just isn't any fuel getting into the cylinders. I swapped injectors and still nothing. Anyone have a clue?

I ran in to something similar once ... I was flashing my car and had 2 maps open in ECUFlash. I believe it was my modded map and the stock one. I switched applications while it was flashing to check the previous log. When it finished, I tried to start the car and it died very quickly. Tried again and the same thing.

I restarted ECUFlash and ran a "Compare to ECU" with my modded map open and it didn't match the ECU.

So, it seems that either switching to another application itself, or doing so with another map open can cause a similar issue. Did you happen to do this?

Sounds about the same. I will do a comparison now. Because when I re-open the ROM, the list on the right side of the screen opens up and it looks like it was installed already.

I copied the original file over the existing one and tried the stock ROM again. Still doesn't start.

I did a compare to ECU and it says the flash image is identical.

Is there a lil green key light on the cluster flashing while you are trying to start the car?

Are you sure the immobilizer is correct?

No green light. Sorry, I don't know what an imobilizer is.

It is the key register for the ECU. If it was wrong the lil green light on the dash would be flashing.

Oh, o.k. No green light though. I got someone bringing my scanner back soon. I'll see if it's throwing any codes.

the immobilizer is a unique identifying code in your ROM that the ECU looks for before it starts. If this code is wrong, the car doesn't start. It's a safety feature to help prevent theft.

An incorrect immobilizer code is a common problem when people share maps. It doesn't seem like this is your problem though.

Yeah, this is an odd issue. I turn it over and I pulled a plug. I barely get the hint of gas smell. And I know the fuel pump is working. The first time I fired up the car after the first flash, it started and stalled, couldn't even keep it running by giving it any gas. Then you could smell alot of gas and I knew it was flooded. But I put the stock flash on and it ran. I'm stumped. I just hope the ECU isn't fried.
