Cant Flash or Read ECU.

Cant Flash or Read ECU.
This is a post from OpenEcu.org, but I'm having the same problem with my friend's car. Can someone chime in and help us with this problem, thanks!

basically, I am getting this error when i try to connect to my friend's ecu using EcuFlash 1.3. but EvoScan works just fine with his car.

Hi last saturday i started flashing, and on my second flash it stopped flashing at the middle of the flash and it said totri again and the same thin happened only these time it just doesnt start to flash or read again.
my message is simple

these happened to me some time ago when i first read and backed up the ecu a few month ago and at that time i didnt try to hard just a few tries for one weekend and some other time it did not connect.
the car runs fine just isnt the best setting and i really want and need to start tuning.
I have tried the following
1 Used two different computers
2 every version of ecuflash from 1.28 1.29 1.3...
3 ecu flash unlocker
4 with the car cold after one night
5 just after half hour drive
6 rechecked the tactrix cable and inspected a lot
7 check the voltage with evoscan and i reads 12.7...
8 Rolling Eyes
any ideas or help

Hey its me with the problem on penecu.org and i still cant conect, i am using a new laptop and i cant read the ecu, i have done everything on the list up there and many other things like a new batery.
evoscan works fine

what do you mean on? as in the ignition on? or the engine on?....my understanding is that the car is supposed to be on (engine off) for the EcuFlash to read...so can you clarify what you are asking..thanks

I have tried al of the folowing.
Three diferent laptops all of them with full batery and ac conected
used all versions of ecuflash from 1.28 to 1.31 with and without ecuunloker
new car batery
with the car layyng for one week
with the car after one houer drive
and a lot of other ideas i have tryed
i have to say its not the first time i flash my or others car and i have never hadd any problem before.
i am pretty shure that the code isnt cahnged since i bakk up every flash i make and it is 0001 untoched

Try putting a battery booster (charger) on the car..
If that doesnt work with or without ECU Unlocker, then it might be a bad cable, its rare but not unheard of.
low battery voltage is usually the cause if its not a bad cable assuming the cable works on other cars.
You can try to start the engine, then try to read it, if its sucessful it will read and the car will stall. I don't recommend reflashing using that method as it could lead to corruption, but if the boot kernel works, and reads the ecu, then at least you know its not the cable.

i recently had an experience with a guy he bought his car from a carmax out of cali. We were getting the same error message. I got to looking and his entire harness was hacked up. There were wires completely missing out of the harness... Infact i still need to call him back so i can get his harness strait again...
I just went trough this, turned out to be the battery. Also just FYI I did not have a battery booster around so I just hooked jumper cables up to a running car and that did it.
