VIII with a IX turbo map!

I'm about to put a IX turbo on my VIII and was wondering if somebody has a map that i can use to hold me over until i get a good tune on the dyno.

Other mods include:
TBE
MBC probably going to be at 21-22(spike).

Thanks,
Scott

no! bad idea, don't do it. Running your current map until the tune is better than putting on an unknow map.

run your current map and just drive easy and turn the boost down till it gets tuned

The maps will be nearly identical at that boost level.

I think it is going to be a while before I'm able to get a tune. I also think it will be fine to run on the stock map. but i'm just not sure.

This might be a dumb idea but... could i just look at the stock maps for a IX and run similar values on my own tables?

Turn boost down a bit and stick with your existing maps. Log to see if you are getting more than a little knock (3 counts or less).

Just leave your current map on there until you get re-tuned. You'll likely start hitting higher load cells, and thus (should) run a bit richer. Same goes for timing, you'll run less. Just leave it, but log for knock. If you don't see any knock while doing some extensive logging and long WOT pulls, then I would roll with it until you hit the dyno or whatever.

Side note: if you can't afford to do the tune, maybe wait on doing the turbo upgrade?

I've already gone through this swap. I'm telling you at 22psi the maps will be darn near identical. The top end will hold boost better but not much. The intake air temps will be a tad lower with the 9 turbo so you'll be able to run more timing.

Run the current map you have, just don't do any massive WOT pulls until you're tuned. Unless you up'd your boost cut you could start smashing into that, and that's not too healthy for your motor. I'd say give tuning it yourself a shot if you've already been doing that. Just retard timing and add fuel in mid through high load areas to start with and log and tune. Shouldn't take too long to do.

Edit* NM...just read Jeff Jeske's post above mine, go with his advice on this...he knows what's up.

OK... Thanks for all the reply's.

I have a wideband and have done numerous logs on my previous setup but they aren't very consistent.

I know most people tune in 3rd gear and i was doing that for a while with no knock, but when i'd do a 1,2,3,4 pull i'd get knock at the top of 3rd and throughout 4th(no more than 5-6) I think this might be normal, but i still didn't like it.

I like the idea of street tuning, but I think i can do a much better job tuning my car when it's on the dyno.
