No, once you flash the ROM, you overwrite the data. There is no going back.

You'd need a stock rom from another similar car with the same rom ID, and his original Immoblizer code.

If you don't have the original code (hence the problem your having) then it can be resynced at the dealer or disable the immobilizer in the rom. (which nobody documents since its considered a theft risk to disable it)

But yeah, once you overwrite the rom, there's no going back. Which is why I always make at least two backup copies and sometimes I write down the immobilizer code somewhere just in case.

I have a stock 15 rom for a IX. As far the immobilizer, he is screwed. Off to the dealer to have his warranty voided.

Or he could go through every combination and reflash it to see if it works. That is only 65,535 codes.

Wow, just wow... hope and pray for a cool tech. at the dealer.

Any chance that another vendor might have a copy of his ROM backed up somewhere (or, more importantly, his immobilizer code recorded somewhere)? That's really his only alternative to the dealer unless one of you is handy with assembly.

Find someone with a stock map and try to flash it and reflash that one.

The easiest way to get it up and running is to get a stock ROM that is compatible and disable the immobilizer.

Does anyone know how to disable the immobilizer? I know it is not talked about but I know there is a way to do it on the 8's. I just don't know how.

You can set it to FFFF and it might work.
