Tactrix Universal or not?

I tried to search for someone asking this question in the past but is there any advantage to NOT purchasing the universal Tactrix cable? All I can see is a $10 difference to be able to tune Subies as well. Seems worth the extra 10.

Not that I plan on venturing over to the dark-side or anything

The universal cable is fine.. I am currently using one with ZERO issues ( : It has worked better for me than the standard Mitsubishi one.

That was fast! Thanks for the quick response!

I actually edited my original post after it seemed quite demanding for a quick response.

Thanks again!

Wow, if it is only 10 dollars more than I would defiantly go with it. Say if one day you would like to sell it, you would have more flexibility with the sale. Also you can help your friends out if they needed a quick tune and if they drove a subie.

I totally agree, I was thinking the same. It's moreso about friends with Subies. I have a friend with a LEASED WRX, maybe he'll need a tune - hehe. I just have no plans on selling it as I probably will never sell the EVO. A WWD talon just doesn't do it for me anymore. I sure hope I didn't miss anything specific because it's ordered.

I doubt I'll have any issues but then again.....I will probably have more issues with connecting than the cable...

On another side note, I am going to start a thread because being an EE, that cable can't be hard to make looking at the picture. Keep an eye out.

the universal one just comes with the jumper blocks. its stupid though how a mitsu cable will work on a subaru but a subaru cable doesn't have the grounding harness

The question I have is if the extra white connector is just a grounding block, has anyone pinned that out to see if that function could be easily added to the Suby cable?

As a former/current WRX owner and part time tuner, I now have a WRX wagon sitting in the garage with a perfectly good Suby cable and my Evo sitting untuned due to a minor error in judgment when I bought the "Suby Only" cable.

My CE friend was looking at my mitsu one (since I managed to somehow destroy the wire to the white connector...don't ask) and its just a ground. He didn't open up the other end (black connector) to see whats going on in there though.

From the picture of it I assumed it had a ground or 12v (Ground confirmed) going to the 3 wires on the white connector.

I probably can't recreate the white connector but I am going to try and recreate the signal. If it as simple as it looks, should be no problem. I figure the white connector to be akin to the jumper block on the Non DBW WRX's. I'll just ground them and hook it to a switch and see.

Thanks, and if anyone has anymore information please let me know.
