Try the new deff files I posted just now. You should have no problems with those.

i wish we had like a source control repository with the latest updated definitions... but at least with this thread we have something.

also, i'm not a big fan of having ECU Patch specifics as part of the official definitions. call me a purist.

Yep it is a problem. But as I have seen with just the 98640014 xml, it is really hard to keep track of what is correct and what is incorrect. I did most of the work on this xml, though was given lots of help at the start, I only say this to point out the difficulties. I have seen several xmls of this ROM where the knock filters have been defined, when I check them against the disassembly it can be seen that the X&Y scales are wrong, in the disassembly you can see how many rows and columns there are. Un wittingly people were taking these xmls as having the correct knock filter maps, when in fact they were wrong. Another example was the static rev limit, this location was defined, but looking at the code I simply could not any sub routine to tie in the operation of the launch control. mrfred helped me again and he could not fined it. The JDM VII has no upper clutch switch, so if it does have some sort of launch control it is very different from the USDM VIII and the static rev limit defined did not work.

It is the control side of the operation that is the problem, who would manage the database, who would verify each xml change, it would be a big undertaking, especially as most of us do it as a hobby.

I agree that the patches in the main deff files can be a problem, I am guilty of putting out xmls with experimental maps, though I have corrected this in the latest deff files.

+1. Windiff is my friend for now though . I backed up the ones for my rom and even keep the version number in each one (allowed me to see that the endian issue wouldn't be an issue for my rom).
