Formula To Log Gear In EvoScan?

A while back I used a formula to calculate/log the gear you are in in evoscan. I think MailbuJack provided it. Anyone have that.

I hate having to figure it out using speed...Too many logs not enough time.

Round(Speed*235/RPM)

For the 5-speed on stock tires. My syntax is off, but if you round that to the nearest whole number it should work. Here's the input:

Gear Ratios:

2.928
1.95
1.407
1.031
0.72

Final drive: 4.529

Stock tires: 822 revs/mi

Output:

1.293522246
1.942273403
2.691850132
3.673552993
5.2603238

^ These numbers round to which gear you're in.

Here's how you work it out:

RPM*60/(gear*final*rev per mile) = Speed (MPH)

Speed/RPM = 60/(gear*final*rev per mile)

Plug your gear ratios and final into excel, do that formula for each gear.

Take the answers and multiply until you get numbers that round correctly.

And here's the Excel file. I put a line in for the 6th gear. If you want to fill in the gear ratios for the 6-speed just copy the formulas from the row above. Oh, and I don't think all 5-speed ratios are the same. You may want to check them.

This isn't zipped, its just renamed. Rename the file to gearcalc.xls to get it to work. Which reminds me, why can we upload .doc, but not .xls? Unless its a software limitation, the admins should add that one.

This will have to be a back burner, but that formula (the gear formula that I use all the time...or one like it anyway) can be converted to Evoscan Xml pretty easily I think (caveat). Give me a few days of writing and testing. It will probably be easier to calculate using the metric since kph is 2x instead of mph which is like 1.24722534 or something. I am not sure how easy its gonna be afterall. Might take longer.

Do you want me to add it directly into evoscan based on the Vehicle gear ratios and final drive ratios you choose int he HorsePower settings?
