unable to read/write in cold wheater

I tried to put my modified map with ecuflash and it kept on error out. I couldn't even read my ROM. So I turn on the car, let it warm up and presto it can now read/write.
anyone else have this issue when its cold out? or is this a static discharge issue.

That has NOTHING to do with it being cold...

It has to do with voltage. ECUFlash is extremely picky about getting the right voltage reading to upload/download maps...

so what would cause the voltage difference? Maybe the very low temperature ( 2-6 degree F) is causing the capitance to change enough to make the voltage drop.
in an engineer and I do know temperatures can have a little effect on voltages. shoot thats how we solve intermittent problems, we use freeze it spray on the suspected device.!!

The trick to get it to work is rev the engine to about 4 grand while stationary and hit the download or upload button while simutaneously lifting off the throttle. the engine will stall and the program will do what you want 9 times out of 10. on the 1 out of 10th time, try again and it will work.

It can also be tricked into flashing on a cold motor/ECU by opening Evoscan and getting a datalog session and then flashing. I usually just wait for the car to warm up for 2-3 minutes and then do it. Its not like that amount of time is going to kill me waiting.

It is not a voltage based error in the cold. Lucas and I both have documented the problem and solution previously, as have others. The ECU seems to need a minimum of about 40* to be happy.

thanks, whats weird is it was like 10 degrees out. and all i did was start the car, let it run for only 2 seconds and stoped it. and it worked?! so it did not have a lot of time to warm up.? dunno but anyways, its no biggie as long as everyone gets informed that you just have to turn the car on then back off.
NOT REV IT TO 4,000 RPM AND TRY TO DOWNLOAD WHILE DOING SO. pshhhhh
