Question Evoscan help!

I have a JDM 2006 Evo IX GSR.

I will be using Evoscan for the first time later on today to log the following:

a. Throttle Position

b. Engine RPM

d. Knock Sum

f. Injector Duty Cycle

g. AFR Map

h. Coolant Temp

i. Timing Advance

I just have two quick questions about using Evoscan:

1. When do I start Evoscan and end it? Do I start it exactly before I go WOT (at ~2000 rpm in 3rd?) and end it IMMEDIATELY at redline (7500 rpm?) before I switch gears?

2. Does Evoscan automatically give me my Torque/Horsepower or do I need to log something other than those listed above? And how do I view the HP/Torque readout?

Thanks guys!

You will have to hit review log and then select power to see your HP/TQ. you're logging TPS, so you can start the log and wait a few seconds to make sure the data is streaming, then go from 2500 to redline. Then stop the log.

whne you review, when you see 100% TPS, thats when you started. (or you can filter the log by TPS using only WOT)

I begin Evoscan right after I start my car, drive it to work (10 miles) then turn it off when I get there. I get some runs in between.

When reviewing WOT runs, I just select the TPS column, and find the 100 value. I highlight every WOT run I make and go from there. There are things being logged while driving that I like to see that are not in the WOT runs. Which has assisted in helping me tune my car better for daily driving as well.

If you use the EvoScan log viewer, you can easily select your WOT pulls from the "Power" tab. there is a pull down menu in the left column (I believe titled Power Runs) that should list all of your WOT pulls. I believe it's based on RPM over time ... I think speed needs to be logged as well in order to view HP/TQ in EvoScan since it calculates the gear from speed vs RPM.

If you want your EvoScan logs to be useful for tuning, log these values ...

TPS
RPM
Load (2-byte or Calculated ... calculated load requires battery, AFR Map and one other value as well)
Timing Advance
WBO2 (If you have it ... O2 sensor #1 if you don't)
Knock Sum
Octane
IPW (requied for IDC%)

With a few additions to the XML you can also log 2-byte Airflow, compressor lb/min and even HP and TQ right in to your log.

MadM when you say you log while you cruise, what in particular are you looking for at that point?
