Is it possible to use an EDM or AUDM rom or even the ecu? Delete the anti-lag and ayc stuff. I'm not worried about emissions since I'm my own st. inspector.

Any confirmation that the 96940015 rom is correct for the 05's? DIfferences in the code and if it will work better? Would really suck if the 05 Evos where left in the dark for Alt_maps and Alt_boost!

Well its correct for the 05, but the question is does it have more room than the 0011. Apparently so far, it doesnt have any extra room.

well there are 3 options:

1) forget about V5 for 96940011
2) 96940011 Evo's to try and use another ROMID - like 94170015, If ACD is the only change I can't imagine there will be a problem, maybe Bryan can test this on his spare ECU?
3) shuffle LOTS of bits of code around - I really want to avoid this as it makes this ROMID unique and will probably cause more problems than anything.

I guess #2 needs someone to check the wiring is the same and then *just try it*

Actually instead of 94170015 maybe go for 96260007 (JDM MR VIII) which had ACD.

I can supply the ROM for anyone willing to test.

edit - but it does have ICS which might/might not be a problem :P

Cheers

If there is no real danger of just dropping in a new ROM ID code ROM, and just trying to start the car, I can try it. If you say for instance, have a 96940011 ROM and just dump in another, what can really happen? If the car doesn't act as it should, can't you just go in a re-write the ECU back to a 96940011, and you are all good?

If you want me to try it out, send to my evom username (at) yahoo.com

well thats the $64k question

I wouldn't have thought that there would be any difference but worst case if you could burn out something because the ecu outputs a different signal...

But I really couldn't see Mitsubishi making different harnesses and pinouts for different ECU's.

anyone have a firmer idea?

I have my factory service manual, and if someone can get me a copy of the factory pinout for that ROM, I would be happy to do a quick scan to see if I can find anything that is different before trying..

I may have got the wrong end of the stick here, but is this thread any use?

ECU Pin Outs

It starts off with the early Evos (1 to 7 JDM) but by the end of it also has an indication of 8 USDM.

It seems to indicate that there is one pin out/harness set up for each model, e.g. Evo 7 JDM. Whether that translates to USDM needs to be confirmed.

-EDITED-

!!Ignore the 8 260 pin out on the first page, that is a specific model in the UK/Europe that is a hybrid of the 7 and 8, using JDM, USDM and unique parts!!

Wow, it looks like that is some really good information. I saved all the .jpg's for future reference

well apparently barryc flashed 94170008 to his evo7 ecu and it threw a bunch of codes...

jeez i dunno, 99% it will be fine, but that 1% could mean bad things if razorlab has a spare ecu maybe thats the best option, that way IF we kill it at least he can still drive, and just source another ECU... still i think it will be fine...

Can you send me that ROM so I can play with it?

I am curious to see what kind of stuff is in it...
