some of the odd ROM's have completely different injector scales and latencies etc...so be careful if you're simply going to paste your fuel maps into one of these ROMS.

I would like to test some of the roms but my engine doesn't have a head on it.

The guy who put it together is really helpful and clearly knows his stuff. I've pmed him to try to get a definitive answer to the harness and pin out question, but it seems that even if they are the same across the 8s etc, the underlying software is sufficiently different from one ROMID to another as to make the ECU not interchangeable.

Damn, this is terrible news....please don't shut the door on us.

If you can find a rom to change over to without frying anything I would be happy to help test.

Contrary to my earlier post, it seems like the Evo 8 260 pin out on the first page of the thread I linked (linked again below) is VERY similar to the the USDM Evo 8 pin out.

ECU Pin out

I had a quick check through the diagram linked and the list on the second link and there are only 1 or 2 pins that are different.

USDM VIII Pin out

It seems that one of the USDM parts the EDM Evo 8 260 shares is the ECU.

Evo 8 260 (Rom 96530006) also has no SAS so is even more similar to USDM Evo Rom 96940011. The main difference that I can think of is that I don't think the 260 has an EGR system. Does USDM Evo 8?

When you say EGR system, do you mean SAS (as found on the JDM Evos) or something different?

AFAIK neither the 260 or USDM Evo 8 have SAS. However, I believe the USDM Evo VIII has EGR, so does the 260 not have something similar?

No, SAS and EGR are different systems. I don't think we have EGR on our cars. Most cars sold in the US have it for emissions reasons. I think there is a patch to bypass EGR on US Evos so maybe this could be implemented into the 260 ROM so 96940011 users could switch to 96530006 with out the CEL coming on.

Any more thoughts on using a non-USDM ROM for the 05 USDM Evo? Do these ROMS have the contigious space needed?

Send me the rom and ecuflash XML for it and I can test it.

I also need the JDM map defs for it as I run one. Although I guess I can swap the stock MAP sensor on for testing.
