Help with CEL

Hi Guys and Gals,

I just bought a 2006 JDM EVO 9 MR, and I am thinking of getting upgraded downpipe and test pipe that will replace the stock Catalytic Converter. What worried me is the CEL. I was wondering if there is a way to eliminate the CEL to go off that is related to the CAT DELETE ONLY, apart from using the mechanical CEL fix. I am wondering if Stock ECU Reflash could make the CEL gone (Or disable the secondary O2 sensor)?

On a side note, i was so happy that I could fine this forum as all the other evoution forums are not as good as this. Thats why I enter this forum and look for help regarding this issue (hopefully JDM EVO and USDM EVO will react the same to this circumstances). Thank you in advance people. Cheers.

If you search there is a delete for the rear cat, because I am using it.

If I remember correctly, there's a patch out there to turn off the CEL. But remember, disabling will only turn it off in the dash. The ecu will still notice it, and you will fail emissions

Thanks for all the inputs. If disabling the Secondary O2 sensor is possible, then I do not think that the ECU will notice it, therefore the car will run normal (as in not in protection mode or something) as if there was never a secondary O2 sensor initially. By the way, there is no emission test in my country.

All other inputs will be greatly appreciated.

I would much rather disabling the secondary O2 sensor through ECU flash if possible rather than having the mechanical CEL fix.

Thank you

2nd o2 sensor does nothing for performance. The CEL it causes will not put the car in limp mode.

why not simply install the spark plug anti-fouler for the rear 02 sensor...works like a champ for me.

One... I think. I'll have to look again. I didn't do it. It came done on the car when I picked it up. But it absolutely doesn't work for s***.

Its so randomly comes on too. Sometimes I get a couple hundred miles, sometimes I get like right down the street from clearing it and DING... SES. Now that puts me in a midget kicking fit of rage...

96940011 - the USDM 05 Rom.

The one I begged you to rip apart in your other thread.

Now you see why Tephra. I still rock your patched rom because the CEL on knock is awesome. And even tho it still works with the CEL on... its nicer when its off.
