Power options for LC-1?

Innovate recommends power to the LC-1 with the ignition on, but no power to the LC-1 when the engine is cranking. The IG2 power system on the Evo works like this. I'm still trying to track down a good IG2 source. I think there may be one in the fuse box, but I haven't verified it yet.

This should be the same for the EVO as the regular lancer and the ACC wire is located at the harness going to the key cylinder in the steering column:

FOr my LC-1 I am taking 12V form the switched power supply that goes into pin12 and 25 in the ECU. Stays on during cranking and switches off cca 5 seconds after ignition is switched off. Seems to be working well so far - my analog output is connected into a spare input in ECU - so I am using it to read the WB values using a MUT request for that particular pin. So the wiring was all done close to the ECU.
Thats a bit more current than you want on your ECU harness. Some touchy electrics you've connected to. What input are you using? Why dont you log your WB directly to your laptop with Evoscan rather than go through the ECU, then to the laptop?

ECU power
Based on the attached schema I thought that it is OK to connect to those cables - these are 20A fused a provide power to various other components.
The reason why I am routing analog through ECU is that I am using a Pocket PC as a dash board and a logger - no way how to get the serial in when there is USB connected to it. Also - I do not have the serial cables from LC1 routed into cabin - they are packed and wrapped in the engine area
Some time ago I was hoping that BEZ will come up with a wideband based ROM patch for 96530006 which he has as well

Its not that the power cables can't supply enough power. Its the fact that if you get any voltage spike on that line from something weird happening with the LC-1, your ECU poswer supply could possibly be harmed. So which ECU pin input are you logging your WB through? Pin 42?

i wouldnt ever mess with any wire connected to the IGN harness...
personally i always power the LC-1 with my radio harness. I have been doing that since i bought it for my other car 2 years ago. no problems.
I always wire all of my interior electronic devices on the radio power switch. Its the most easily accesable wire... and if there was ever a short, you'd know right away, cause your radio is off.

I have used one of these on my last two cars, including the Evo (I thought mine was around $35, though, so either the price went up or this is a differnt model/brand). It's just an auxiliary fuse block that gives you 3 more constant 12V and 4 switch 12V sources. All of my gauges, wideband, carpc, etc, are hooked up to this. That way you don't need to hack into any stock wiring, except for one connection to a switched 12V for the relay, like the cigarette lighter. You pretty much have all you will ever need then and each new line is fused as well.

^im just used to cars with imobilizer systems connected to the IGN harness (GM cars), so i dont mess with it.
If your device would cause a voltage fluctuation on the IGN wire, the ECU would think you were trying to hot wire the car and shut down... (for up to 6 hours)
thats why i connect to the radio. if anything goes its a fused wire not connected anywhere to the ECU...
i never use remote start/car alarms, those things are always shody quality and end up burning out.

Every car has Immobilizers now man. I've worked with car alarms, car stereos, all 12V related electronics professionally for 13+ years now. Its NOT an issue.
Buy shoddy gear, get shoddy results. Good quality gear is all I ever install, never had ONE customer ever have an issue and we're talking thousands upon thousands of cars here. Innovate's system isn't shoddy. The IGN harness isn't connected tot he ECU either.

when powered via CIG lighter, won't the wideband be on even though the engine itself is not running? Kinda like when you just put the key on, and turn it one click then listen to the radio while working on the car - lol..
