need help reading ecu

hey there.

i have tried everything and i still cant read my ecu. i have tried many different version of ecuflash and no luck. ive tried to read other cars and can but cannot do it to mine. ive even went out and bought a new tactrix cable. ive also tried a battery booster and even tried reading it after driving the car for a while to let the ecu warm up. ive even gone to the lengths of using different computers to read the same ecu. oh and ive used the ecu unlocker the entire time. i need serious help. im all out of ideas.

here what im working with. evo 9 previously flashed by dynoflash. im trying to put a TTC reflash on it because of recent mods. please if anyone has got any new ideas please help. thanks

oh i forgot to mention that all this started when i upgraded from echflash 1.28 to 1.34. that is the only thing that i have not been able to do is switch back to an older version. if anyone has an older version that you can send me, that would be great.

Sounds like Al has locked the tune on your ECU. Try going here and downloading the unlocker software.

Usually when there is a failure to connect there is also a definition of the failure displayed in ecu flash. What is the failure notice that pops up when trying to connect?

it says

sending init sequence 1 (0001)
sending init sequence 1 (0003)
sending init sequence 1 (FFFF)
sending init sequence 1 (FOFO)
no response ro any known code
interface close
interface close

it just says that everytime ive tried it. with the unlocker and without. the only diference is that without the unlocker i dont get the (FOFO) line. everything else is still the same

Stupid question but relevant...

Do you have enough voltage to the car? ECUFlash is finicky about getting the right voltage. Try starting the car, let it idle for a few mins, turn it off and try again...

i pretty sure it does. ive tried reading it after a few minutes of idle. ive tried reading it after a few minutes of actual driving. and ive used a battery booster. all had no such luck.

dang...

Do you have your immobilizer code? If so, see if someone local will let you swap ECU's. But then again, you can get other cars to read...

sounds like the ECU is not seeing the init code,
did you check the hardware???
is the pin still in the white connector and still connected at the ecu pin 100 on an Evo 9 ????

I had the same problem. My solution was:
1. Start laptop and ecuflash
2. Connect the Tactrix cable
3. Connect Tactrix to ECU
4. Read
IIRC it had something to do with the order it is pluged in. It was something i read on this forum and it worked for me.
