what about doing the 0xFAA rear 02 bit disable on 96530006?

 

yeah he could try that but I think that the ecu in his car is a 3 plug ecu and the rom from the 260 is a 4 plug I dont think the 260 rom lives in that ecu to hapily

 

Yep, mine is a 3 plug, but speaking to Grayw, 96530006 will run on my ECU, just with the CEL for the rear O2.

Does the rear O2 disable remove the whole rear O2 check routine from the rom, or just fudge it so that the check comes back ok?

From talking to John F, I'm not sure if the rear O2 fix for the USDM roms will work on my ECU, as my car does not have any of the hardware for the second O2?

I'm more than willing to try either rom though, if someone can talk me through how to install the rear O2 fix on 96530006 (or point me to a thread where it's discussed)?

 

Can't you change the ECU_PEREPHERY to 56D8 to disable the rear 02 ?

 

I believe changing perephery will just let the ECU ignore the missing signal from the rear 02 - so no cell for rear 02 will appear.
However - he might get a CEL for the rear O2 HEATER circuits - as 96530006 will be checking the heater circuit pins - and if it fails to see appropriate values - it will show a heater error. As the connectors and cables are missing on his evo - it will be more complicated to put the resistor for the heater circuit somewhere

I think if there's no other way around it, and the Ralliart JDM 8 Rom works on my ECU, that would be the best option, as it's specifically designed for my car, rather than being a different rom that's been fudged to work on mine.

I can't believe no one else has a JDM 8 that they want V5 on though?!

Hopefully with all the clever and helpful people on here though we'll get to the bottom of it.

I'm going to try the 2004 JDM 8 Ralliart rom tonight and see if that works on my ECU, if it does, I'll ask Tephra to take a look at it, but I fear it may have the same clutch switch issue as 93660005 and that it's the JDM 8's two clutch switches that are the problem, and not the particular rom.

 

Ok, just flashed the 97250001 JDM ralliart rom Evo 8 GSR to my car and everything worked ok.

I took it out for a little drive and everything was as normal, although I haven't done any WOT runs yet.

Seems this could be a potential alternative ROM. Could Tephra please provide a little more info on what was wrong with 93660005 so that we can tell if 97250001 is a potential candidate for V.5 on the JDM 8 GSR?

 

aha good stuff,
the issue with 93660005 was with the clutch input for NLTS,
it didnt work everything else worked,
send this rom and def to Dave (tephra) along with a donation and he will patch it for ya,

 

I'm not really bothered about NLTS, so if 93660005 is already patched without the NLTS then I'll happily take that!

I'm just waiting for Tephra to get back to me and we can go from there!

i tried flashin it with the v5.1 of the 96530006.... valet works, alt map works and the ICS light flashes too, ICS linger works, din notice ICS spray on knock but the lvl went low pretty fast so i suppose its workin...CEL on knock was workin too on both low n hard knocks, was gettin a fixed CEL i suppose its fer the rear O2 heater, NTLS wasnt workin plus the Launch control vanished away.... the idle wasnt rite too... it was 750ish on nuetral and 820ish on moving i think.... n there were knocks on hard pull quite many infact.....any solutions....

 

Interesting awadkhan, what was your original rom id, was it 93660005?

Have you tried turning the car off and turning it back on again, the ECU can "learn" to make the car idle properly, it normally only takes a little while.

There are also tables in ECUFlash to adjust idle rpm, but I haven't played around with them and don't know much about them.

Not sure about your knocking issues, did you copy your fueling and timing maps over to the new rom properly?

I think the problem with the CEL is what eliminates 96530006 from the running for a V.5.1 solution for JDM 8s, as we simply don't have any of the hardware for the rear O2. I would imagine it's therefore easier to patch a rom that's specifically designed for the JDM 8 (97250001??) for V.5.1.
