Question 93660005 ROM Swap?

Has anyone swapped their 93660005 for another ROM successfully?

I believe the 93660005 is one of the main JDM Evo 8 ROM IDs (or at least several JDM Evo 8s that I know have that ID).

Just try it rob, make sure you copy over your maps into the new rom id.

Fire it into the ecu with ecuflash, then see if the car starts (don't forget the immobiliser code), and if it does, fire evoscan up and then go for a steady drive.

Pull over after 10 - 15 mins and check the logs, if all looks ok, give it some boost and check logs again etc etc.

OR

Put it on a dyno and check it out in 1 go

yes better to be safe than sorry.

Try using 96530006.

I have a lot of problems with 93660005 with BarryC, the clutch switch wasn't registering properly at all!

I've only just got around to patching the 96530006 ROM for V.5.1 and have just been checking some of the values in the tables between 96530006 and 93660005 and it seems that there are some differences, notably:

Injector Battery Voltage Latency Compensation
Open loop load #1
Open loop load #2
Open loop throttle high load
Open loop throttle low load

The MAF tables also have some weird values for load and the user defined (target) values are different between the two roms.

I've also been told that I'll get a CEL light if I use this ROM, but I didn't ask why at the time, I just presumed it was because of my JDM 8 not having a second O2 sensor, whereas this ROM expects there to be one (it's for the AUS/SA market).

Can anyone please shed any light on this being a problem, before I flash it to my car and see if it'll start?

The XML for 96530006 that comes with Ecuflash has lots of stuff wrong with it. Let me know which version of Ecuflash you are using and your emails address and I'll send you my XML.

I'll pm you my email.

Are you on the MLR, btw?

From talking to John F, I think I now understand why I'm going to get a CEL if I use that ROM (as Grayw suggested).

It seems the 96530006 rom is from the Evo 8 260, a European model similar to the USDM 8 with two O2 sensors (one pre and one post cat). My JDM 8 (as with all JDM Evos) only has one O2 sensor pre cat.

I understand that the Ralliart ECU for the Evo 8 260 does not have the second O2 sensor programming, so that's you can fit it to 260s without the second O2 and get around having a CEL light, but the Ralliart rom hasn't been patched for V.5 (not sure which ROM ID it is?).

So, does anyone have any ideas how I can get V.5 (or V.5.1) onto my JDM Evo 8 without having a constant CEL?

(You cannot just short the wiring as on USDM 8s, as mine doesn't have the wiring for the second O2!).

Incidentally, the Ralliart rom could be a software fix for USDM 8s with CEL for removing the O2 sensor, as it seems the USDMs can be flashed with the 260 Rom, so they should also be able to be flashed with the Ralliart 260 Rom.

The E8 (EDM) 260 Ralliart Rom id is 99270000

I think this may be a dead end as well, Russ, as apparently the Ralliart rom won't pass the US Emissions test because apparently it checks to see whether the second O2 test has/can be performed.

So, it would only be a fix for the JDM E8s and doesn't offer much more.

Thanks Barry, I've moved all my data into the new rom (including the new 280 and 300 load fields on the timing and fuel maps ), but my laptop is at work.

I'll flash it to the car tomorrow evening and try it out, then I'll try to bribe Tephra to get it patched!
