yeah i guess. what if u rather leave all patches off except the CEL fix; which would just mean turning off all the .bin's mods and copying your current values to IT rather then FROM it in order to work. Is their anyway to copy it via text file cut and paste?

I'm not sure if I follow your question exactly, but if you are asking if you can use Tephra's V5 patched ROM for just the cel fix, then yes you can. You still need to use that patched ROM, though, but turn off all of the other settings if you don't want to use them, such as NLTS, etc.

I succesfully removed my faulty rear O2 sensor on 96940011 rom by just adding the following to the end of my rom:

<table name="ECU Periphery0" category="Misc" address="faa" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/> then changing the value to 56d8 or 56d9

I have to mention that I also had to put a resitor to get rid of the heater circuit cel.

Now, what is the difference between the code on mine and yours, any benefit?

I would gladly replace the working code I have now with yours if I did not have to run a resistor.

You used the periphery to disable the rear O2 sensor. Doing it this way, the OBD II readiness tests will never run, so if you have to get emissions testing via OBD II, then you will fail emmisions because your cat efficiency readiness test will never be in a passed state.

You still need the resistor for the time being if you want to completely remove the sensor from the car.

Thanks Eric,
I got it, I'm gonna upgrade to your code and report how it works later on tonight .

Nice....I just removed the mech fix, flashed the car & went for a nice long drive with no cel.

Checked monitor status afterward & all is well

Good job

tried to edit with notepad, whenever i tried to save/replace the file with updated file..it says file cannot be created? could i just use madmax's simple 1 line code and still work same as l2's code?

Adding the code that I posted combined with the resitor will allow you to remove the rear O2 sensor completely and prevent you from getting a cel.

However, you will not have the readiness signal necessary to pass an OBDII test. The new code is an upgrade that allows you to not only remove the sensor but also pass OBDII tests and that is why it is great until another genious comes up with a code that does not require to run a resistor .

So, after reading all of this, someone please confirm my conclusion. It has been a long day and I can't think straight.

Using this patch on 96940011 will take care of the ECU and the readiness issues. IF i do the resistor thingy to take care of the heater OR leave the O2 sensor in its place, I can pass NJ State Vehicle Inspection using my test-pipe.

Is this correct?

If they do not do a visual inspection, then you should pass.

Visual inspection will f me up huh? So, I'll leave the O2 sensor in then just in case they do look. Then again, if they see a test pipe and not a cat, they might cry about it. I guess we'll find out

l2r99gst,

Yano, I'm really glad you have an 05. I'll try it tomorrow. I'm REALLY tired of the CEL's even with the anti-fouler.
And simply 'turning' it off is always great. Especially if it doesn't know its turned off! Which was my problem with the periphery method.
WTG man, I'll give it a whirl tomorrow. I got a friggin light right now...

I tired it on mine, Light comes back on after about 130 miles. Not sure which code it is. Checking to make sure that i copied the values in correctly right now. Is there a program that will work with the tactrix cable that will read codes?

Edit: Found the Program on Aktive Matrix. Car is throwing the P0401 code. Exhaust gas inefficent

Edit2:I reentered the values and flashed the car again to make sure i didnt enter them wrong the first time. We shall see what happens

That is an EGR cel code. This code isn't for EGR...it is for rear O2/cat efficiency.

Ya, my CEL was on for P0420 before the code. Any clue as to why i would trigger a EGR cel code?
