96940011 issues

Hey guys,

I have a customer with ROM ID 96940011 but I can't seem to open it in EcuFlash.

I have an xml for it, but EcuFlash still says it's unknown when I try to open it. I also tried the latest version of 96940011.xml that comes with EcuFlash and it doesn't like that one either.

It still comes up as Unknown and gives me the option to inherit from evo9base, but not evo7base.

I've posted a link to download the XML I'm using and also the ROM I'm trying to open... Any help here?

Thanks in advance!

Could the ROM have been Flashed Previously by a tuner who changed the ROM-id to protect it? Or is that not possible to do

Is anyone else able to open the ROM? I've tried several revisions to no avail

I can open it. It has mivec maps, 6 ign maps, etc, so it's a 9 rom. You need to change the internal ID.

Seems to be a 0015 rom

I had the same problem on my friends car, although I had to change it BACK to 96940011, but not before running the ECU unlocker to upload the data. Good times!

Its an Evo 9 88590015 ROM. Whoever was screwing with the tuning before you grabbed an 88590015 ROM and changed the ID code to 96940011. I'm surprised the ECU successfully accepted the ROM and the car ran. The 7052 processor has only a 256 KB ROM.

I dealt with this recently. It ended up being a scrambled ID, but stock map.

Never a IX on an VIII thing tho.

How could that even work?

I know this is a long shot but, me and a buddy of mine figured out ecuflash and evoscan won't work without the power locks fuse in. I'm not sure about the rest of the fuses but, we tried it in an 03 gsr and 05 rs and got the same result.
