swapper ecu?
i downloaded the map from my ecu, and it read "year:2004" .. but my car is a 2003? i checked the date code on the door and its a 03/03... which would make it a 03. does this mean some1 has switched ecu's in it before? and would that hurt anything running a different year evo VIII ecu?

Mine did that too, my ECU was swapped with another 03 ECU supposedly, but it says it's 2004 too.
Just as another data point (mainly for the archives, so people searching for this catch it): certain tuners change the ECU ID to something different and/or invalid when they flash an ECU, presumably as some sort of rudimentary copy protection. My Evo is a 2005, but EcuFlash showed it as having a 2004 ECU ID, and the maps were pretty generally mangled; changing the ECU ID to the correct one, 96940011 in my case, resolved the problem. Whether this kind of thing is still common practice by a few folks, I couldn't tell you.
If your maps all look fine, I wouldn't worry about it.
