in {options} make certain the computer is looking in the right place for the openport romdata and metadata.
this always happen to me when I redownload ecuflash, those files end up in another part of the computer than where ecuflash is looking for them. Since your situation is different but the symptoms are the same I can't say for sure.

I had the same problem, with my computer with XP, first check to make sure its looking in the right place, if that doesnt work, reinstall it a few times, but make sure to uninstall ECU flash and the Tactrix cable drivers

uninstalled and reinstalled several times, changed file paths, but eventually it started working, not really sure what did it....

Mine sometimes does the same thing cause of the small battery, if you have one run the car a bit and after that it should be fine.

You may need ECUFlash 1.29a, Mine did that same thing with 1.35. It would sit there at 50% cpu (its a dual core) and just spin the waiting mouse around and around. Eventually the title bar would say (Not Responding) I have a copy if you need it. I recommend 1.29a

basically, for some reason the metadata xml files were installed in a different directory (i.e. c:\Program Files\OpenEcu\EcuFlash\ROMMetadata\Mitsubishi\Evo) but the setting in the EcuFlash options was set as something like c:\My Document\blah blah.. So you'll need to change that to be the same in order for EcuFlash to see those xml files and show them in the popup dialog. Get it!
