Is fuel pump require for ECU Flash?

Hello Guys,
I have boost control, exhaust, intake, testpipe, and downpipe. I emailed a tuning shop and they said I need a fuel pump for ECU flash.
Anyone know why what's the fuel pump for?
Thanks,
Charlie

If you have an Evo VIII, you should have one to support the increased boost that you'll see from a tune. If you have an Evo IX, they're wrong and you need to find a better tuner.

I have an EVO 9. Tuner Technologies is the tuning shop told me that. I heard they are pretty good @ tuning.

Yeah, def get one. Most shops recommend one with any ECU flash since they are messing with air-fuel ratios. The increased boost will require more fuel esp with the mods you listed. You would need to get one anyways down the road to support mods like cams and alky. Its a small price to pay for a nice margin of safety.

yep! you need one for evo 8 for sure if you increasing the boost. On my 05 evo evoscan log, my fuel was on the lean side up top (11.5-11.6) when boosting to 23.8 psi peak and I'm already richen it down to 8.0 in the upper rpm range in EcuFlash. I tuned the boost down until I installed the walbro.

^^No! It's the values in EcuFlash fuel map that I have to lower to. It's just an experiment that I tried with stock pump.

Many people don't know that the stock IX pump flows much more than the stock VIII. This pump is good up to 360whp safely as per the AMS pump flow test conducted last year. The question posed here is whether or not an upgraded pump is "required" on a IX with the stated mods. Assuming this is a pump gas tune, the answer is clearly NO.
