Oh ok. Sig was misleading. You're right about the boost. The op will end up having to getting a bigger turbo if holding a certain amount till redline is a must

Air temp matters to the tune ... but in the end, the most important thing is to get as much air into the engine as possible. That is what actually MAKES power. Sure cooler air, at the same mass flow rate, means better timing, but at some point we've reached max power (read efficiency).

The only thing to do then is increase the mass flow. We do that with boost pressure, which happens automatically with our boost control, until pressure gets too high, the air gets too hot again, or we simply run out of flow. But everything we do with these engines is geared towards flowing as much air as possible, while igniting the mixture in the most efficient way possible (AFR), at the best time possible (timing).

Cooler temps means more efficiency (thermal efficiency), but more air means more fuel which is a much bigger stick to wield than a few points of efficiency
