EGR CEL Removal Code Question

For those of us who are NOT using the JDM MAP sensor, is it possible to remove the EGR CEL simply by inserting this single line into our existing code:

<table name="ECU Periphery2" category="ECUPeriphery" address="fca" type="1D" level="1" scaling="Hex16"/>

Then, change the ECU Periphery2 parameter?

And where changing that parameter is concerned, I have seen one discussion (JDM MAP thread) where MRFred says change it from EFDF to EDDF,

(https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...&highlight=egr)

and in another (EGR CEL fix discussion), he says change it to 0DDF.

This is conflicting information. Which is correct?

The choices are:

0x8d89 (like the JDM ROMS)

if you want to turn it, the rear O2 heater codes, and the Evap all off at the same time just use 0x0001

Thanks Lucas,

So to confirm, I should be able to add just that single table definition, and changing the value to "0001" will turn off all the codes you described. This is for a 015 EVO 8 ROM.

Correct?

That is correct. It will turn off all the EGR and EVAP stuff and one or two other annoying CELs as well. This is universal among all the ROMs since they all have the same periphery table.

Thank you both. This is good to know, and this is the only instance whereby I've seen it adequately clarified.

I'll give it a whirl as soon as I can get things back on the road.

Actually, they are not conflicting. Both will disable the EGR CEL. The second one also disables the rear O2 heater CEL (but does not disable the OBD-II readiness check for the rear O2 heater).

This thread shows a new way to enable/disable ECU features:

I am still lost, what does changing Periphery2 from EFDF to EDDF do then?
