Talk about knock...

Took my car to the track after installing a IX turbo on my Evo VIII.

Car was knocking all through 4th gear, killing my top end.
16 Counts of knock descending to 10, slowly to 5-4-3.

Here is a log, Just asking for some opinions, advices, anything.
New to EvoScan/Ecuflash.

For some reason during this pass, my AFR did not log

Log starts as the car is about to leave the hole.

Thanks!

Gauge pod was in the steering column, Light was flashing, I was not aware.

it looks like even you were 100% on the throttle, your rpm was still dropping after you shifted to 4th gear from 7200 down to 5500 before it went back up again. Problem with clutch, fuel maybe? Maybe because you did no lift shift!

Your IDCs are at 100% or over, what AFRs are you seeing? I guess your on a drag strip but do you need to rev that high when your clearly dropping out of the engines effective operation area? The knock looks like it might be associated with the change, lift off knock or similar. Maybe time for uprated injectors or FPR.

Nope. Doing it tonight. I will update this later on tomorrow
I figure this turbo is obvs flowing a lot more air either making me run really rich or super lean

Seeing as 4th gear generally has higher airflow than 3rd, its possible that its because of the new turbo volume. I find it odd that you started to severly knock immediately at the shift point which (as I mentioned earlier to you) still makes me wonder if its a mechanical noise that peaks your sensor. Try dropping the timing about 3 degrees in your powerband and see if you get the same results during a 3/4 shift. You don't need to do full 4th gear pulls yet, just do some 3/4 transitions and see if knock occurs immediately like you say it keeps doing now.

Your datalog looks damn near identical to mine! What clutch are you using? I've noticed that letting off the gas when it starts knocking alleviates the issue. Have you seen the same thing? I've also noticed that if I no lift shift (tilton clutch) I don't get the knock instances.

I'm on the stock clutch. Tuning has slowly solved the problem. Went back to the track weeks later and pulled off a 12.3....

My cam gear on the exhaust side was at +3 degrees and intake was at -7. Nice! Yet another tidbit that slipped my mind while reassembling the engine. I really wouldn't think that NO valve overlap would have an effect with shift knock but it does. Horsepower came back after readjusting the exhaust camgear . There it is!
