90550001 v5.10 Weird problems..ideas appreciated

Story :- I'm Running the above ROM in an evo6 with an evo7 ECU.

The Problem :-
Car will buck badly at around 8psi-10psi of boost similar to heavy fuel cut. cant boost beyond this, its like hitting the limiter.

About the Rom :-
NLTS is Disabled
Valet mode is diabled
Stat limit raised to 7000rpms - no difference
Speed limit on/off and BCLVS on/off both set at 510
Boost limit RPM Table (500-4000rpms) set to 319

The only cure i can find :-
If i remove the Connector from the speed sensor so the ecu sees no speed signal, the car will boost to 1.6bar without any problems at all, and runs fine, so its nothing mechical/fuel/ignition related.

Anyone any ideas? Rom problem? def problem? can email if any one wants to take a look.

Marty

have you tried a straight 90550001? ie without 5.10?

is it actually speed related? ie can you do more than 8psi @ 40km/h and 8psi @ 80km/h

I guess your using the ECU to control boost. I have a 7 on this ROM with no issues, and am using the ECU on a GM 3 port. The other chaps in the UK/Eire use boost controllers on their 6s. The RPM scale for boost cut is deffinatly wrong, but I'ev not had time to look into it fully, might be a question there. ( map shows 10 elements in header but related scale in subroutine indicates a scale with only 9 elements) Do you have a speed converter for KMH to MPH? Could the ROM have been corrupted in any way?

Using mbc to control boost matey. She holds a good 1.5 to redline with 1.6-1.7 peak in there with the speed sensor disconnected.

tried reflashing with fresh roms and prob still exists.

Car does have an electronic mph/kph speed converter. I was thinking about this last night, but i cant see it effecting anything, ecu still gets a speed signal that it thinks is kph.

Will remove the mph/kph converter today and see if prob still there, just to eliminate from the equation.

I also noticed as you say, the boost control table for this Rom seems to be different that the others, which run to 8K rpm and this only to 4.5K

yep defo off. I thought maybe this was the problem due to the 6 not having the clutch switch, so maybe the open ecu pin (not grounded) was the state of the clutch being pressed, so even changed the ntls settings to see if there was any effect - none. Speedo converter makes no difference either.
Really am stumped at this, as its defo seems its a routine related to speed signal

Yes dave, if i disconnect the speed sensor, i can boost hard to redline in all gears no probs whatsoever. It definately feels like a load vs speed issue.

i didnt do the wiring thats why lol

Pin 19 (afm reset) was moved to 32 or 34 (cant remember) instead of pin 20 (rad fan) being moved
both wires were same colour so guess it was an easy mistake to make

so instead of the ecu switching the fan it actually reset the afm lol
