New at this, pulled the ROM. Opened it in notepad and all I see is some gibberish consisted of strange symbols and characters. Nothing like a block of code. Any help? Thanks in advance.

You need to have added the periphery XML to your version of ECUflash if it doesnt already have it. It will be under Periphery and then Periphery 2. Most likely it will be set as 0/1 switches if its the included version or hex if you added it yourself.

Thanks Aaron, I managed to add the periphery to the XML, but when I'm trying to save it. It's saying Access Denied.

I included an attachment, as to what I see when I open the ROM file that I pulled off the car.

Hey, I'm new to ecuFlash completely, But I know that i have the transmission harmonics issue throwing the p0300 code and just need to ignore it till I have the money to correct it. I have ecuflash version 1.43.3252, and have copied and pasted the periphery definitions into my rom xml file, however the periphery section does not show when I re-open ecuflash.

My ROM ID is 94170008, which I edited in notepad as in the video, with the . I've tried restarting, adding in the code for versions older than 1.35, and saving as .xml. But no luck..
anyone had this happen, or does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks in advance,
-Steve

The access denied is from windows 7. you need to save it to your desktop then delete the stock one so you can past the modded one in. Windows 7 & Vista doesn't let you modify program files.

you only need a 2.0 cable if you're tuning a evoX. If you have a evo 8 or 8 get the 1.3U cable. They seem to work a little better.

I think you need to double check your code and make sure your modding the correct XML. If you still have problems PM me your email address and I'll send you a modded XML for 9417008.

Let's see if I find solution here
Here's what i m facing..

Mine is JDM Evo 8 MR running stock ecu. Whenever I swap factory coils with COP, car starts and idles perfectly but right after 5~10 seconds, it throws P0300 (random misfire detection) code and engine shuts off. It doesn't start again till ignition is switched off completely. Once re-started, same thing happens and engine shuts off again.
If I swap back factory coils, car is up running as normal.

Is ecu reading false code or something needs to be fixed or deleted?

Maybe you have a coil thats overheating and failing after it warms up.

I don't think so as it is brand new system and on idle it should not have load to misfire or stop working..

I am running 96260009 in my JDM 8 MR. I am using ECUflash 1.33 version.
ECU throws P0300 code as soon as I go with COP ignition from stock coils. Today I uploaded all this data to disable the test and found out the value is already set to 0001 in periphery2 data.
I think it is already disabled. If yes, how come ECU picks this code on COP?
If not, what values to put to disable it?

Thanks!

Disabling P0300 should ONLY be done as a temporary measure and ONLY if you're 100% sure it is being thrown by a transmission harmonic...see this post:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/8490407-post247.html

For COP issues, you have a genuine misfire, and should not be disabling P0300 test...find and fix the problem.

My Evo gets back normal on factory coils. I tried in another Evo 8. It gives same code and shuts off. There is another guy in Malta who has same problem. JDM ECUs DO NOT support COPs. We all are trying to find the reason and cure.

I have had it disabled since this post (^ Nov. 2008) and have had no issues from it since. I now have 133K mi. on my car.

Our problem is different. Car doesnt start after about 5 seconds on COP. From start to shut off on COP, car idles/revs perfectly, but shuts off in a while.

Sounds like you need to search for and/or start another thread dealing with COP.
