I have a little request... not sure if it has been asked before or if this is in the right thread. Just a couple of things that could make the software nicer to use.

It would be handy to be able to group data items into sub-lists. An example is you might want to monitor anything O2 related so you can create a data list for just that, then you might want to just do wastegate related... etc... It is not necessary for DIY's, but for the more serious tuner a faster way of being able to select items and see them on screen without the clutter would be a godsend. A separate tab list at the top with assignable names would be a good way to do it.

The other is being able to click on the Name, Request, etc... tabs at the top and be able to sort the data items. It is very handy to be able to soprt via Request when trying to find new items to log. To do this properly you would need to have a preference number assigned to each data item so you can sort by this number, by alpha name, or by request.

I little off-evo-topic, but is there a reason why the STIscan side of the program does not have calculated G/Rev for MAF reading, when that is how the roms have been setup for tuning?

Hamish,

I am sure it's me but I am having issue configuring the gauge displays correctly with Beta 14...

USDM Evo X
EvoScan Beta 14
data.xml from (Sic)
Mode23 and Can logging working

I am new to EvoScan so I am sure I don't have something configured properly, some gauges work, some don't.

Do you have a user's manual or tutorial around on configuring the gauges, and more specifically to map the gauge to the correct metric? I see a "set data item" button, but when I click on it, I get no response..

evo4mad,

There are enough other questions posted in here that I figure it's a better place than the link you posted in your first post. I also didn't want to search through a thread started in 2006.

So, I got the new GPS I ordered from you today. I have having some problems.

First one is Ohio (a state in the USA that I happen to live in) is not even listed on the GPS, so apparently that is why it can't figure out where the hell I am.

Second, when I try to connect using the 2.0 cable that came with it it doesn't automatically recognize it. It brings up a box that says "Unidentified USB device" Fill in the blank from there to tell it what it is. I've tried everything and it still does not recognize the cable so I can not connect to the car.

Let me know what to do from here please.

Thank you!

tsitalon1,

I know that these guys, many of them, put a lot of time and effort into the open source products. I greatly appreciate it. I send in my donations and buy what I need to help the cause.

I too, like you, wish there were better tutorial's for some of it, such as the new GPS unit that I bought mostly just to support evo4mad.

There are a lot of things to do with the open source stuff that is very easy for some people and extremely difficult for others (like me, stupid). Not all of us have degrees and some like me have NO computer knowledge at all, so it is very overwhelming.

I do appreciate everyone's time. In the case of the GPS there are no instructions and in this case it's not a free download or just information someone took the time to give out. A short instruction sheet would sure make things easier and I'd guess produce a lot less questions to deal with.

David,

I believe the version of evoscan on the GPS unit does not support OpenPort 2.0 yet as only v2.6 beta supports 2.0 as of yet. The GPS device uses v1.3.

That's interesting as the unit came with a 2.0 cable, it now has a seperate power source for the ADL (I think that what the white connector is called) that runs off the main OBDII plug. You very well may be right, if that is the case though it seems silly to sell the unit with it. I guess I can try my 1.3 cable tomorrow. Thank you for the information.

Evo4mad would obviously know better but I haven't seen an updated software for the GPS unit, and it's still listed under "Future enhancements" on post #1.

OK great, thank you very much GST. It's odd it came with the cable then, maybe I messed up and asked for the wrong one too. Now I guess I just need to figure out how to input the state of Ohio into the GPS.

Hi David, yes openport2.0 support for GPS I started on this week. Yes you ordered that op2 cable seperately, I just put it in the box to protect it during shipping. Yes, sorry, I have a lot more work to do regarding Box graphics and Instructions etc. I'm working on that. Yes I have a special login webpage for GPS owners, it has all the maps available for download. I have not got a system that auto sends you the login details yet. I'll pm it to you now.

As soon as the openport 2.0 support is added. (working on it today) So that people can start datalogging EvoX vehicles with it, then I will add additional gauges support, lap timer, 1/4mile timer.

Thank you Hamish for the information. Also thanks GST, you were correct, first thing I did this morning was hooked up my 1.3 cable and the logger worked perfectly.

I realize you have a lot going on Hamish, I hope I didn't sound pushy.

I will go download the new GPS maps as soon as you send me the link and try to figure out how to work it all! I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.........but atleast I admit it! haha

Thanks again for all the help.

OK guys, I just want to give an update of my situation since I posted I was having some problems.

First off thanks to GST and anyone else who told me the problem.

I also have to say that Hamish got right on sending me a PM and a link to the information I needed.

Also, I went and downloaded the other maps I needed for the actual navigation unit today. I was a big shy about doing it (computer idiot here) but he has a very well written instruction on how to do it on his "private" site that you get access to when you buy the navigation/logging/flashing unit.

I loaded all the maps in that were missing and the POI's that were missing. It worked perfectly and instantly. I am extremely pleased with the entire set up now. I'd also like to point out that Hamish has a deal that when you buy the navigation/logger unit you can then download the updated EVOscan and maps for the unit in the future at no charge. That is a hell of a deal. I have a Garmin that is outdated, Garmin wants $179 for the new maps for it. Hell you can buy a new one for less than the map updates are, which is what I ended up doing. (disposable society that we are)

Anyway, seems like a hell of a deal to me. The logger/gauges and such are all pretty freaking cool and it's handy keeping an eye on it and not having your kid hold you laptop for you

Highly recommend giving him some support if you are in need of something like this and can afford it.

Great job Hamish.

Hi, I sent you a pm dont know if you got it.
I purchased a used EvoScan touchscreen from a member on here (Y Jim) and I was wondering if you could help me as I don't have the Florida map on the iGo gps. I understand I need a password and to go to the website to get the maps for free. Let me know if you can help me out.

Thank you
