I've also confirmed that the code posted in #107 works for ROM 96530006. The test car has a factory shortblock, but was seeing phantom knock after replacing factory motor and transmission mounts with stiffer pieces. Slightly revising low rpm sensitivity seems to have eliminated the phantom knock, but the sensor still works as it did before while under boost.

The above relates to my car. I have always had some issues with what I believed to be phantom knock. Normally WOT, low rpm spool up conditions. Retarding timing, adding fuel or both never seemed to erradicate it. Knock sums were always inconsistent, but usually a high number of 8-9 or more. And as many of you have observed with built engines, mine seemd to be around the same load/rpm as what you guys are reporting. After installing a complete set of engine mounts, the car would now consistently "knock" from a 2.5K -3K roll into WOT every single time. This was aggravating to say the least. Ted installed the new tables for me and made the adjustments mentioned. "Knock" has been completely quenched!

Can someone please help me out by making the modifications to my map that are needed for the knock control. I have major phantom knocking and am almost going to call it quits with the car. Now its either this or go stand alone. If someone is willing to can you pm me your email address and ill send you my rom. I am a ME and not good with all the ECU stuff.

I don't mind helping you with this, so long as you agree to absolve me of any responsibility. If that works for you, PM me your email and telephone, and we'll take care of it this evening.

Whoever is going to be doing this, i can say that small changes go a long way here. Increasing 2500rpm load from 60 to 80 and low rpm multiplier from 13 to 14 cleaned up most of the problems i've had with 94170015 low load knock..
Still had some knock in low load 1st gear, so i ended up with 120% load in 2500 rpm and 16 for the low rpm multiplier. No other values were changed..

Once again, great find jcsbanks!

No problem mplspilot.

jcdevo67 pm'd me, and I suggested he post here since although I found the tables to adjust I have no personal experience of doing it on a false knocking car, and this is the sort of thing that is best to see the car to do I think, or at least looking carefully at logs. Ted B thanks for helping him.

Funny you posted this, I was just going to report back as well. It's been so damn snowy here I've had no chance to test this until recently!

I will second what Igor has said here, I upped my low rpm multiplier by 1 and upped my threasholds to 100(backed down from 120 originally) in the areas I commonly get knock readings and this has *really* cleared them up! I do get them from time to time, but I can only assume that it is either real knock or I need to tweak it a tad more. This is an awesome, awesome tuning too. Awesome.

So yesterday I brought my laptop with me and had a chance to adjust values during an errand. The car is on E85 now and it still (phantom) knocked during that range. When I stopped, I made adjustments and it's virtually knock free. I don't mind random 2's and 1's but anything 3 or higher affect the whole pull.

Thanks for figuring out knock control and sharing it!
I've had a nasty 3500rpm knock since installing the headers and it's not gone away after changing to a built shorty and head and different cams etc...

I was going to do a bunch of experimenting and thought what the hey, I'll use the settings you guy came up with and just see if it's worth doing or not. I'm impressed, check out the before and after...these are from two long logging sessions and I set excel to display every knock count above 0

I have no phantom knock problems whatsoever, but this is a huge accomplishment. Thanks jcsbanks!

Same story here. I've found that similar settings work wonders. However, I used "18, 19, 20" for the multipliers respectively.

Yeah, that 3500 rpm knock was annoying since Bryan wasn't able to tune it out. I've since changed my settings to 19, 19, 20 and it's clean... unless there's real noise as experienced in the last dyno session.

Eventually I'll get around to fine tuning it to my cars like but for now that quick and dirty change sure did make the difference. Previously I was having to disable the knock sensor altogether just to be able to dial in the fuel/timing since the ECU was so heavily involved in trying to help due to the crazy false knock.

p.s. don't get to hung up on the afr/timing I'm running, I just changed turbos and haven't dialed it in yet.
