Thats the correct XML file I've posted, you should just save it in the directory shown, then open the rom.

you can't find your rom file?

rename it to something.hex oder something.bin

without hex or bin ending, ecuflash can't find the files.

have you copied the 98640014.xml to the C:\Program files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo directory?

You don't need to open or find any xml, thats automatic. just open your rom file (hex or bin). Or connect to ecu and read again.

It works for me with your posted files. I just had to rename them to oem.hex

no, you dont need to open the xml files in Program files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo

that is NOT the rom

the rom is the file you posted first. open this file.

Another option is to copy the XML file to the correct folder. Then go out to your car and open EcuFlash and read the ROM from the ECU directly. Does this work? If so, then save the ROM to somewhere you will find again.
