If you have a 1/2 amp quick blow fuse inline you won't hurt the ecu even if you tried. Well maybe if you really tried (like wrapping the fuse with aluminum foil) but realistically you won't.......

Yeah I should have added that to my diagram, def. should have a quick blow fuse installed inline of the 12v signal just for safety.

You always fuse as close to the power source as physically possible. The job of a fuse is to protect the wire so that it doesen't catch on fire. Its an added benefit if it protects the ecu, which a 1/2 amp quick blow will.

No worries brotherman, I just want it right.

Question. I already have the led for an upgrade like this (RED LED) That 1.8v 20ma led need the 560 ohm resistor or do all leds need the resistor? The leds i have are 12V plug and play. Do i just hook it up minus the resistor and add a 1/2 amp inline fuse? Thanks

Red led will be my "knock light" too. Dumb steering column gauges!

If its a 12v led then you wont need the resistor......the ones I have are 1.8v so the resistor is needed.
