Spooky EvoScan behavior

So i've been fooling with EvoScan on my newly built 2.3 with the stock ecu. The car is running great.

I ordered the 1.3 cable from the EvoScan folks in NZ. (I don't need the open port 2.0 features and i want to log which doesn't seem to have landed yet for the 2.0)

I installed ECU Flash for the drivers. (All my software is what's currently available on the download sights for each)

I hooked up just the OBD port plug and neither MitsuLogger nor EvoScan would see the device so i plugged in the other plug. (I thought it was just to flash the ecu?)

I get all the flashing lights but am told that that's normal. Cool.

After hooking up the other plug MitsuLogger started working so i did a quick log and stopped it and started up EvoScan. As soon as it finished it's connection sequence i tried a WOT run. The car went 10.0 : 1 and had a lot of audible detonation so i immediately let off the car hung at 4000 RPM for at least 5 or 10 seconds so i turned off the car, unplugged the cable, and turned the car back on. It's running fine again and i haven't had a chance to see if a log was actuially created (This was on the way to work) but what happened? I'm afraid of MitsuLogger after that!

I'll post logs from both this evening if they actuially got created.

p.s. I'm a programmer and have worked with an AEM EMS for well over 2 years on my previous car. (Nissan 240) I don't think i'm doing it totally wrong

I Logged on the way home and didn't run into the same problem. The Log has knock count right at 350 but other than that everything looks normal. (I don't see anything obvious as to why it went rich and knocked like crazy)

Oh well. Ghosts in the machine i guess. This evening on the way home i learned that i've got some timing to remove for sure and a lot of work to do at low RPM High load situations where i guess the stock turbo and displacement just never go on the map.

Make sure you check out the new knock control stuff in this thread.

Your new motor is most likely a little "louder" and may put out false knock.

You might want to increase your load axis as well, and like you said take out some timing.
