Building to much boost with 2 step

Car was flashed about 2 months ago. Has been working fine since then. But recently when we get on the 2 step the boost no longer goes to 8-10psi and sits there. Its now shooting up to around 20psi or so. The launch rpm is still the same at 5500. I havent gotten a chance to work on the car yet but my first assumption is a boost leak has shown its ugly face some how. Any other ideas ?

Thanks

Hmm, if it were leaking, it would boost less, not more...I'd take it back to where i got it flashed

Could be the cooler weather? Boost will rise if you hold the limiter for a few seconds ... maybe you just didn't hold it as long before?

Nah I don think that is it either. I just looked at some of my videos and i sat on the 2 step from the second staging light until the green light and it stayed right at 8-10psi. Now it basically shoots to 20psi or so after 2 seconds.

I was going to work on the car this weekend but I guess I will work on it tonight since this is going to bother me all day.

That is strange, you're not running any timing retard for the 2 step areas..Did you change anything? What does the car sound like and does it bounce off of the limiter alot slower?
Also where did you get the 306hp and 275tq from?

Nah Petey, I havent changed a thing on the car prior to this issue which came about 10 days ago or so. The other night I installed a few things but this issue was there before the install.

The HP is just a estimate that ecu+ gave me when I did a pull the other night. Evom loves HP numbers so I put one there

Other than this issue the tune has not changed. Afr is still in line. I have not had to make any adjustments.

More boost will bring the tq. up with the hp
I can't imagine 20psi of the rev limiter though, Could it be you boost gauge is just really jumpy when it bounces the rpm's around?Does it sound any different?
I remember playing with timing on a rev limit and too much retard would get more boost but it did not bounce off of the limiter nearly as fast and sounded totally different..

You can always log your 2 step and see where you are at. If you have a JDM sensor you can actually see your boost at what ever rpm you are.

Well I had ruled out the boost gauge being that it doesnt do anything abnormal at idle, cruise or WOT but double checking the vac line is on my to-do list tonight. And the car doesnt sound or drive any diffrent.

That exactly what I am going to do. I will install my 3 bar tonight and log the 2step to see whats happening.

Thanks for the sugguestions fellas.

Sounds more like anti lag with is building that much boost... most 2 steps I don't think build up that much boost...

If you know for a fact there is nothing wrong with the boost gauge, what is the point in installing the map sensor?

The point of installing a map sensor is so you can log boost. A map sensor is much more accurate than a mechanical boost gauge and its something I use in all of my cars to tune. I was installing it already but instead of doing that this weekend I am doing it tonight.
