Question about EGR Disable

Okay, I'm getting a P0401 and i've already edited my ROM for Periphery 2 and changed it to EDDF to disable the EGR....i'm just curious if its alright to have this disabled while the egr valve and everything else is still on the car? i will be ordering a block off plate tonight most likely...

so i'm just curious if its alright to have everything still on the car and have it disabled? before i reflash my ecu

i'm guessing it should be fine because i have my rear o2 sensor disabled and its still on the car

Yeah - i have mine disabled and still on the car, I just unhooked the lines from the tb and plugged the ends and capped the tb nipples off.

I had removed everything except the egr solenoid, no problems.
I don't see a problem when you leave everything connected.

they way i see it you might actually WANT to keep it all hooked up or remove ALL of the components. I believe the EGR valve works every similar to the BOV so removing the vacuum lines might cause gases to push open the valve during boost the valve is tee'd off the intake manifold pressure.

I can't confirm this but i would remove everything or nothing, personally. By removing the coupler to the TB you should be able to get to the valve on the intake manifold very easily. There are only two bolts and the gasket and block off plate should run you <$10 shipped.

Might want to cap every thing, the valve leaks both ways whether solenoid activated or not. Disabled, the hoses will eventually deteriate from being static.

any more info on this? im getting a p0401 code. had my egr replaced once, and if i can just disable it, and leave everything plugged in as it is now, that would be awesome. any downsides to this?

Sorry for a newbie question: What's the advantage of running w/o EGR ?

you should block it off, with no vacuum going to it it can just sit there opened.

Keeps your intake manifold clean since there won't be exhaust gasses running through it and cleans up some of the clutter from the engine bay.
