we have all gone the easy route - which is to disable it
I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but when I disable lean spool by setting the start and stop rpms to the same value the car breaks up (pig rich)under low rpm high gear acceleration, I had the same thing happen on two different cars so now I don't touch it. Just putting my experience out here in case it proves useful to anyone else.

See if your have this posted in your XML.... If not....add it.

<scaling name="blobbits" storagetype="bloblist" storagebits="1">
<data name="0" value="00"/>
<data name="1" value="01"/>
</scaling>

All you have to do is click on the bit you want to change hit the + or - to change the value. Or you can go = then type in the value.

I've disabled lean spool through the perphiry bits, but I think I've ran into the same thing.

I figured it was related to the Tial BOV and 3" intake though.

The car will run 9:1 AFRs down around 2500 RPM while under about 150 load, despite being mapped out to 13:1.

Is there a benefit to disabling leanspool using this method vs the one in this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...l-dummies.html

I have not notice this....I will have to check it out.

Maybe like you said before.....LeanSpool could be a benefit if anyone learns to tune it.

Since I got my idle issue 100% fixed I guess I can start playing with the lean spool.

I am of the belief that it is a very good idea to keep it. In an overall laymans's view, I dont see it so much as leaning the spooling areas of the map, rather I see it as a way of effectively richening areas of the map under sustained high load conditions.

If you just lean the map back to values similar to when the LS is enabled, you open yourself up to promoting possible detonation rather than reducing it.

I have been disassembling it this evening.

The main finding of interest is that as the lean and rich timers expire, the system moves a click nearer in its intepolation between the AFR value looked up and the adjusted AFR value.

So it glides between your mapped AFR and about 1 AFR leaner. I don't know whether it glides in both directions, looks like it does. So it is a sort of "abuse" counter

re Mojos post, I was wondering if LS is disabled, then you get the full accel enrichment treatment, thus the pig rich running.
Or, if LS is operational, it somehow dilutes or turns off accel enrichment.

Glad to see jcs is on the case.

+1 on Mattjins comments above.

I too noticed tonight that low RPM and high load will result in super rich condition with lean spool disabled. I will turn it back on an post the results tomorrow.

Merlin.....Might you have to reduce accel enrichment to reduce the rich condition???

I mentioned the accel enrichment as stock there is a lot of enrichment in the mid to hi rpm area of the table.
When tuning aftermarket ECUs you do not usually do this so it seemed kind of weird.
I mucked around with the accel enrichment last week, added more at 1000rpm etc and virtually removed all the hi rpm enrichment.
I got a sharper off idle throttle response (as expected) with no real top end change.
I have LS enabled.

What values were you using when adding more and removing the high? The %s go from 1.62 down to 1.0 and back up to 1.43.

I am confused to what these numbers really mean.
