It could be that some of your lean spots on throttle transients are due to your trims being off, if the trims were negative due to some areas that were rich it may be pulling fuel in other areas that end up lean?

I used MAF based logs of load/MAP to work out VE. Then fine tuned using the trims and checked the full load stuff with wideband.

I'll definitely keep playing with it Wish it was easier to reset my fuel trims with an 8 than unplugging the battery.

You could pull the middle ECU (on a 3 plug ECU) plug for a second.

Taking a different approach to VE tuning this time. Since 85-90 seems to work for everyone on idle i'm keeping that and adjusting the map to load columns to compensate for the difference in fuel. This method seems to be working loads better than messing around with the VE columns.

Whichever you prefer, but remember you're fixed to a 14.7 AFRMAP in closed loop no matter what your fuel map says.

I know I disabled closed loop with the FAA periphery and tuned up the map sensor until it seemed right. I think i need to drop some of the ve on the higher rpm's a little still

I may have missed it but are there any ported Knocklite/SD ROMS other than the one listed in the first post?

I have been playing around with this on one of my techs Evo 8, and 9471xxx works really well but I would like to put the knocklight on it. Its going on E so I am not as worried but it would still be nice to be sure.

Thanks in advance

Maybe I added the wrong xml, which is the version? I tried 5.10 from the first link and it was no dice. I am not surprised I missed it, I am a little behind the times on the stock ECU speed density stuff...working on catching up though

One more thing to learn I havent even gotten my disassembly learning curve dialed yet let alone the patching

I admit I am just a button presser for the most part.

There's really nothing to applying the patches. It just takes a bit of time to copy over the table values from the example ROM to your working ROM.

Oh this isnt recoding the ROM? I mean I have always been okay with .xml but if its just copying table values from one to the other then its not too bad. I thought it was a little more involved than that.
