Timing pulled until fully warmed up

While i am a novice at best, i havent been able to find out via experiment (or searching) why my car happens to pull timing, and occasionally knock before being fully warm.

This isnt saying im just hoping in the car and going, this is simply when the car is not fully @ operating temp.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am fully capable of logging the car & posting the logs. So please be specific if i need to post something.

Id prefer not to post the map.

The car pulls timing durring warm up to rapidly heat up the cat. There is a map for it in EcuFlash. (Base low engine temp trim) Most people are running catless and usually up the timing in the map to allow the car to drive somewhat normal when it isn't at full operating temperature.

What you are seeing is completly normal.

i appreciate the input...

I cant seem to find the "base low engine temp trim" table you are refering to, i do have EcuFlash in developer mode.

I have already upped the timing in the "idle" area of the timing map to smooth my idle w/cams.

Are you refuring to modifying timing in the main timing table, or another table that I currently cant seem to find, the base low engine temp trim.?

I can't comment on V1.41, but V1.40 had the table listed as "Boost Enhancement (Anti-Lag) Advance," or at least something to that effect.

You'll want to remove that entry from the xml files and add these.

Here is a whole thread on it and where that post was taken from.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...ing-trims.html

The table you'll want to adjust is the "Warmup Advance/Retard Activation" and "Engine Temp Trim."

If you set the activation trim to 0 across the board, you'll eliminate the warmup retard. If you want to maintain the retard function, but just reduce how much it pulls, you can tweak both tables. I still have a cat so I wanted to maintain the function to prevent fouling out the cat. I had good success with pulling a few degrees out of the Engine Temp Trim table and then lowering the activation percentage at the higher temps.

You can also disable this function through the periphery bits.

I zero'd out the table and found relief of the bad start up, but it still knocks when cold....alot

Here is a long of the car cold & warm in similar RPM ranges

there's a bit you can set in the periphery that effectively takes care of the nasty driving during warmup.

its like 1 or 2. There is a thread about the periphery and it will tell you which one and which bit.
