The Zietronix one is $29.

or you can get one from EvoScan for $17.50

www.limitless.co.nz/cables

The one issue i found is my laptop assigns it to a com port > 10 which evoscan doesn't let me choose. So i am constantly having to go in and manually change the com port.

I found when the uego is logged through usb port it still has the logging issues.

You can set the usb to serial adapter to any port you like in the device manager. and it doesn't change. Why do you have more than 10 comports attached? just sounds like you haven't configured your PC correctly. add me to msn messenger hamish_ahern@hotmail.com and I'll set it up for you.

FYI, my keyspan was always great. Here are the DSMLink recommendations:

Go to device manager as Hamish said then go to advanced properties of the com port and you can manually assign a lower numbered port.

Some laptops pre-assign a lot of virtual ports to their usb controller subsytem and this is quite common so the laptop isn't necessarily misconfigured.

with Vista once you get it working I have found it is best to always use the same port for your wideband and same port for obd2 cable regardless of brand.

PS there are only a couple of common serial to usb chips on the market that are sold under 100's of different brand names. The Radio Shack driver works on my Airlink 101 adapter as an example and I have a Belkin that works fine also

Oh yeah you can go into your laptops bios and isable the on board modem to free up a lower numbered port if your laptop has a modem installed that is

Good Luck

my old style dynex from best buy (back when they were 9 bucks years ago) finally died, the wires pulled apart from abuse. I picked up a new one last night, it's a new design and 36.99 WTF, I tried it with the old and new drivers and windows assigns it com 1 but logworks lm1-programmer fail to connect, evoscan connects but logs 14.7 afr as 5...not sure what's up just yet, only spent about 30 minutes on it last night. I'm pretty sure I saw someone mention that problem before.

evoscan and the lc-1 on my car do *not* get along at all. I'm blaming my lc-1, even after setting up the outputs and running one into the rear 02 input it doesn't get the right info (however logworks works fine with the dynex setup).

Go in and remove the drivers and re-install them, its probably something stupid in the usbid in the registry.

did you kill the drivers in safe mode? I assume its still the prolific chipset like the old ones?

no, normal mode: in vista I uninstalled the hardware via device mangler (manager) and it prompted to uninstall the drivers so I did. I reinstalled the new drivers for the new cable, plugged it in and it was redetected and setup. That's what I've done thus far but it still did exactly the same..no logworks/lm1 and 5 AFR in evoscan.
