USB to Serial Adapters That Work

I have found it to be hit or miss with USB to Serial adapters. I personally have a serial port on my computer but a lot of my buddies have had issues with different USB to serial adapters. With some recent issues with EVOScan and the Uego i would like to get one, that works.

Thanks in advance

-Mike

I use a Dynex brand from Best Buy, at the time I purchased years ago it was 9 bucks. Now it's gone fancy and I think it's more like 40 bucks from what some customers have told me.

you can get the same thing as the dynex off ebay for about $12. There are two major chipset manufacturers for usb->serial, so if you have issues with one you can try tracking down an adapter with the other.

Alternatively, if you know someone who works at bestbuy, you can get the adapters for probably $14. Markup on those small items at the BBY is crazy.

The Radio Shack brand works perfectly fine for me. Didn't have a single issue and setup was a breeze.

I'm using a noname adapter with TRENDnet controller. Works as well (on XP on Mac). $14.99 at a local shop:

Most of the profilic ones work fine for most people. If not you can get a FIDI one off ebay and try that. I have three of those and they work great as well.
