Virtual Dyno Room-Dyno Simulator
Posted in the standalone thread:
not sure why ppl keep trying to stir the pot...
2 creative, knowledgable, mathmatically blessed, computer savy, guys (teamates) if u will, were working together to create a program for the community, "the team", not for personal gain, and somewhere along the lines started their own thing (features, formula for calc. power/tq.), whatever. Both programs are meant for "the team" to use and enjoy! Right now this new standalone is pretty fkn awesome, and when boost gets incorporated, it will be even better... W/ that being said, Im sure JOT's program, when finalized, will be equally awesome!!!
Im sure I can speak for a lot of us, especially us normal guys who just play w/ our own car, or road tune, and no dyno to play w/, that I/we will enjoy both programs, and thank BOTH of you guys for your efforts!!! This really is AWESOME !!!
Im sure the name issue wasnt intentional and most likely didnt know JOT was gonna take it as far as he did w/ the standalone, and website... I hope theres an easy fix for the title, and we can all continue to work as a "team"...
BOTH of u guys ROCK!!!

Alright well I downloaded it again jack... and opened it right up, and using the default log values, it should show a dyno graph of the 2... Mine shows nothing.
I am using openoffice 3.2. I had it work on my other laptop, and this one once.
Help?
I will try to DL .net one more time...

As well as just about any other datalogging program out there...FTWMF's!
Guys, thanks for the pm's and concerns about all of the drama but everything is fine now. People keep asking why I was upset at Brad launching his version of the simulator I started working on and I really don't feel like answering all of those PM's over and over so I will speak my peace here and we'll be done with it (hopefully). I was upset at Brad launching the stand alone as a separate entity because his pitch to me was to help ME get a stand-alone version of MY work. He claIms he didn't slack off on the project but it basically got nowhere fast and he never really asked me intricate details on what I would want in it after he made the first beta but it sat still there and I couldn't really help since I didn't know VB code at the time. What angered me was the fact that I only allowed him to see my version and work on it because he was making a stand-alone for ME. Then it suddenly became his and now created two versions of the same thing which to me only seemed like he wanted to ride on my initial hard work and pat himself on the back.
After the initial shock of everything, I calmed down and realized it all doesn't matter and he is TOTALLY entitled to do what he wants with his product. I'm not going to be competitive with him, I will just focus on my own project and the community can now enjoy multiple options to choose from. In the end, I really have no beef with Brad...except for his decision to keep the name VIRTUAL DYNO which I still thinks needs to be separated from my projects name so people don't think they are talking about my product. Plus, my website is called www.virtual-dyno.com so it doesn't seem wise to have any search engines drive people to my product instead of his. Other than the name, I am pretty sure we are all good now so thanks for the concerns but there is no need to fret over anything.
Peace,love,Boost.

Jack i love the look etc of your VDR dyno sim and i will continue to use it as im sure it will be just as solid or better as 5.7 is as i find it to be VERY accurate. I use your VDR 5.7 a few times a week minimum and its very useful tool. Keep up the good work!!
JOT, I'd like to try your program on a few 3000GT VR4's I've been tuning. Here are the gear ratios:
3000GT/Stealth AWD Gear Reduction Ratios
5-speed:
Primary 1.375 (44/32)
Front differential 2.889 (52/18)
Transfer 0.815 (22/27)
Rear differential 3.545 (39/11)
Speedometer gear 27/36
Overall 3.972 (2288/576)
First 3.071 (43/14)
Second 1.739 (40/23)
Third 1.103 (32/29)
Fourth 0.823 (28/34)
Fifth 0.659 (31/47)
6-speed (USDM)
Primary 1.222 (44/36)
Front differential 3.166 (57/18)
Transfer 0.958
Rear differential 3.307 (43/13)
Speedometer gear 28/36
Overall 3.869
First 3.266
Second 1.904
Third 1.241
Fourth 0.918
Fifth 0.733
Sixth 0.589

There is a 3rd type of gearing used in the JDM 6-speed using a 5-speed rear in a 6-speed trans. The gears are the same, but the primary gear changes. Give me time, and I can find that info.
I also need to find the FWD 5-speed gear ratios.

You can just download 5.7 right now and try it out for those 3000GT's
You will need a few more bits of information on the 3000GT however, like frontal area, and the drag coefficient.
Just put those in the user defined section...

Like booztd mentioned, you can try v5.71 now to see how your data will look, although v6.00 is far more accurate and more user friendly once its released. I'm getting anxious to have it done but there are a LOT of features in it now which need to be gone thru with a fine toothed comb before we bother launching it.
